When the weather outside is dark and dreary, I make it my personal mission to bring the brightness. Today’s mood booster is all about high-contrast joy: bold orange frames paired with a vibrant orange and lavender striped dress.

I’ve always believed that what we wear changes how we feel—and how we affect the energy around us. Graduation Day Fit Check! 🎓✨ Today is an incredibly special day as our oldest, Zauditu, graduates high school. The energy is high, the emotions are big, and the style is deeply personal.

I took that personally… and added an extra pair of earrings instead. 💁🏽‍♀️✨

When the dress is already a splash of color, why stop there? Layered up the colorful necklaces, doubled down on the earrings, and decided maximalism is the only rule that matters yesterday. Life’s too short to minimize your sparkle. 🌈✨

I filmed a bunch of these inspired by @birabiro's series. Most of my outfits didn't end up looking as fun as hers (I'm working on that), but here's one I didn't mind as much. One perk of being a graphic recorder is that you tend to be granted the most fashion freedom no matter how serious the event is planned to be—and I don't want that freedom to go unused (or unabused).

Is it the most traditionally “flattering” silhouette on me? Maybe not. Did I feel confident and love every second of wearing it? Absolutely. 👏

We get so caught up in dressing to optimize our proportions, shrink our bodies, or hit some arbitrary rules about what works for our shape—but fashion is supposed to be fun, not a formula. Sometimes an outfit is just cool, comfortable, or expresses exactly how you wanted to feel last night, and that matters way more than adhering to someone else’s ideal silhouette.
If you love the fit, wear it. Life is too short to only wear what “flatters” you! ✨

Swapping out the daytime comfort for something meant for the night. The day outfit did its job, but the outfit had to go before heading out but the evening upgrade made up for it.

There’s something great about stepping into a fresh look right as the sun goes down and the whole energy shifts. From daytime conference fits into evening mode.
