I have been seeing the recent posts with pet edits on book covers, and I’ve been wanting to create a goosebumps post for some time now soo… here we are! When I had this idea I knew immedietely that I NEEDED to create some fun book edits of my cats, and after designing them for the better part of a night they didn’t disappoint :) by @birdbins

I. Am. Sat.

Holy moly i did not expect to get so hooked on Dungeon Crawler Carl but here I am 🫶 As someone who already loves rpg games (both video and tabletop) i knew i’d have to read this one eventually - i did not expect to be so blown away, finishing this in a single weekend and picking up the second same day

It really felt like i was a kid again blasting through my fav dystopian novels, and that’s the feeling i’m forever seeking in a book - Princess Donut and Carl have me wrapped around their finger (and paw)

Okay, um, wow. This book caught me in a way that was so unexpected - I had a hard time putting this book down!

I am honestly so impressed by John here for writing such well thought out characters who felt like real women with a real romance that didn’t rely on men for the story - and also ace identities? Absolutely going on my shelf for queer books to recommend !

Queer notes aside, the body horror in this was GROSS in a way that I couldn’t stop reading - What do you MEAN throbbing and convulsing egg sacs ??? 😭😭

Definitely give it a read if you haven’t already !

I stand by my recommendations - I really think Shrek would like Slewfoot and you can’t convince me otherwise 😌 (Although Barry’s recommendation might be a little unhinged, I’ll admit) by @birdbins

Zombie apocalypse about a gay couple and an adoptive daughter?? Count me in

All things considered, this is a pretty sad read but also a very good one - and wow the art is stunning - if you like post apoc and queer writing def give this one a go by @birdbins

Imagine just being a cat reading about cats 🐱

In all seriousness, Junji Ito's Cat Diary was genuinely SUCH A GOOD read - it was so fun and lighthearted while keeping with Junji Ito's classic style - I didn't know just how much I needed this book in my life (and I think Cal enjoyed it too) Even if you're not a cat person I think you'd have such a good laugh out of this manga (maybe even more!) by @birdbins

I can finally say I have finished the Never Whistle at Night sequel, Back for Blood!

Some of the stories didn’t quite hit the same as the first anthology, as I found the style of horror to be a bit different, but I still had a few favourites, including:

Neon Moon
We Don’t Talk About It
Miss Cherokee Princess 1996
Toothjar
The Corpse Room

If you’ve recently read Back for Blood, what were some of your favourites? by @birdbins

Holy moly I have finally finished what is the near 800 pages of Little Women

Was it a worthwhile read? Yes, 100%.

Did it also take me several months to finish? Yes! 100%

There was genuinely so much good storytelling here, the writing was engaging, and I learned so much more about the March sisters than I ever could have in the movies - I also never realized Little Women was initially published as a serial, how cool is that? I have no idea why I thought Little Women was a novella before properly looking into it, but can confirm it most definitely is not a novella 😅 by @birdbins

I get into a scrolling spiral as easily as the next person, but take that break, slow down, and remember the joy of reading as a kid 💛

Not my usual genre, but Fire on the Mountain was a super interesting alt history read about Brown and Tubman and what might have happened if their uprising were successful

I didn’t even know this book existed a few months ago, and having dipped my toes into alt history fiction, I’ll be keeping an eye out for similar reads - so please comment some book recs for me to check out!

I’m 100% going to be picking up the rest of the books in the series because wow this one had me hooked!

I also couldn’t decide which image on the carousel was my favourite, which was yours??
