Just been let go? Before you sign anything, take a breath.

Severance paperwork can feel urgent, but you usually have time to review it. Start by gathering your termination letter, your current and past employment contracts, and any important emails or documents.

The Employment Standards Act only sets the minimum notice you're owed. Many employees in Ontario are entitled to more under common law.

A legal review of your full situation can make a real difference.

We're here when you're ready. 💜⚡️

For a lot of people, the hard part comes before the legal problem even gets named. You don't know where to start, or who to trust with it.

We built Bird Bolt Law to be the kind of firm people can actually turn to in those moments. Someone who listens first, explains clearly, and walks alongside you.

You don't have to have all the answers before you reach out.

That part's on us 🐦⚡️

Not every workplace problem announces itself clearly.

Sometimes it's a slow shift, a change in tone, duties, or how you're treated after you speak up.

If something on this list feels familiar, trust that instinct and reach out.

We're here to help you figure out what's actually going on 💜⚡️

Accommodation works both ways. You share enough information for your employer to understand what you need. They explore what's actually possible and come back to you with real options. You may not get the exact arrangement you asked for. What you are owed is a genuine search for one that works, all the way to the point of undue hardship.

If that search never happened at your workplace, reach out 💜⚡️

At Bird Bolt Law, we're in the business of building people up.

That means creating space for questions, explaining things without jargon, and making sure you feel supported, not just represented, every step of the way.

Employment, human rights, and education law deal with some of the most personal moments in someone's life, and we take that seriously 💜⚡️

We show up for our clients, consistently, and let that speak for itself.

We’re not your typical law firm. That's exactly the point.

Problem: Something's wrong at work.

Fix: See a lawyer....eventually.

Sometimes we first resort to Googling it at midnight, texting the group chat, asking ChatGPT, calling your mom, or rewatching Suits for "inspiration".

We get it, lawyers can feel like a last resort. But the sooner you talk to one, the more options you will have.

Skip a few steps. We're right here, and you can reach out to us today 🐦⚡️

Disability inclusion at work covers a lot more than ramps and adjusted schedules, though those matter too.

It shows up in how meetings are run, how feedback is given, how promotions are decided, and whether people feel safe disclosing a disability in the first place.

This month, we’re thinking about the parts of workplace inclusion that never make it into a policy document, and that still shape whether someone can thrive at work.

Today, we're pausing to feel two things at once.

Gratitude and awareness.

Gratitude for the people around our table, for rest, for the quiet moments a long weekend can offer.

And awareness that Thanksgiving's history is tied to colonization and the displacement of Indigenous peoples.

A history that isn't in the past tense for the communities still living with its impact.

A few small ways to hold both:
• Find out whose traditional territory you're on (native-land.ca)
• Support an Indigenous-led organization this week
• Let the conversation at your table go a little deeper than small talk

Wishing everyone rest, warmth, and a bit of reflection 💜

This Women's History Month, we're taking a minute to talk about the legal wins that didn't happen by accident.

Equal pay protections, pregnancy and parental leave rights, protection from workplace discrimination. Every one of them exists because someone pushed back first.

We help people use those rights today, and we’re so glad to be a part of it 💜⚡️
