One of my favourite places in Marrakech @lemapmarrakech and proof that this city has many gems to discover! I can spend hours here. And it’s never enough! So many stories about our human culture wrapped in gold,silver,rare stones and kingfisher feathers! Thank you @pierrecollet61 for sharing them with us. Even in the dark of the night, Birdcage is warm and inviting, the courtyard is quiet and peaceful, the luscious plants enjoy the winter sun as much as the heat of the Summer. Something beautiful about antique tuareg rugs. The vintage rugs (unlike the fashionable but simple modern versions) are intricately hand woven in richly coloured leather threads intertwined with the reed base. These can take months to complete with many artisans working on a rug that will last a lifetime. The Tuareg are from the southern Sahara -part of the Berber race. Here the design is geometric and complex and the leather is in rich olives and plums as used in the courtyard Bhou.
