After years of music, connection, and unforgettable moments, BIRDfest has come to an end.
BIRDfest grew into a festival where artists, visitors, and our community came together, at multiple locations in Rotterdam, on the dancefloor, and in the music that united us year after year.

We couldn’t have wished for a better closing chapter than this year’s sold-out concert with the legendary Mulatu Astatke, a night that truly captured the spirit of what BIRDfest has always been about.

To everyone who’s been part of this journey; artists, crew, partners, and especially you, our audience, thank you for your energy, your support, and for keeping the music alive with us.

There’s no big story; sometimes things just find their natural ending. And that’s okay. We look back with nothing but gratitude and pride for what we’ve created together.

With love,
Team BIRDfest💜 by @birdfest

🚨Mulatu Astatke Announcement!
Due to ongoing recovery, Mulatu Astatke’s concert, originally scheduled for BIRDfest and later moved to February 8, 2024, has now been rescheduled to September 18, 2025.

This new date is your chance to be part of his farewell tour. A historic moment as he prepares to say goodbye to the stage.

Even though we all wanted to see him this Saturday, this tour will be a truly special farewell show, and we hope to see you there. ❤️

This February 8th, Siegfried will be taking the stage as the opening act for the legendary Mulatu Astatke at Annabel (sold out) 🔥

A familiar face at BIRD, Siegfried is not only a talented drummer but a true part of our musical family 💙 He recently wrapped up his residency during our BIRDsession season and has been a key figure in The Nest Vol.3 project. Now, he’s bringing his signature fusion of Dutch Antilles rhythms, jazz, and hip-hop to the stage, joined by a group of extraordinary musicians:

@siegfriedhart on drums
@stefanbrunner.music on bass
@tergofficial on keys
