With the Orioles playoff chances dwindling and the season winding down, I wanted to highlight some prospects I would like to see make the jump to the next level. The list is in no particular order, but does go from Triple A down. Is there anyone I’m missing or anyone you guys really want to see get promoted? Let me know in the comments taken in Orioles Park At Camden Yards by @birdlandwire

🧱⚾ LEGO MLB MOMENT OF THE NIGHT: PETE ALONSO MAKES HISTORY IN QUEENS! 🐻‍❄️

In his return to Citi Field, Pete Alonso delivered a storybook moment against his former team, launching his 300th career home run in the top of the 9th inning. Even bigger than the milestone itself, the blast tied the game 3–3, keeping Baltimore alive and ultimately helping set up the Orioles’ 7–5 win in 11 innings.

After spending seven seasons in Queens and becoming the Mets’ all-time home run leader, Alonso reached No. 300 back in the ballpark he once called home — and received a curtain call from the Citi Field crowd. 🧡🖤

300 CAREER HOME RUNS. GAME-TYING IN THE 9TH. BACK IN QUEENS. 💥

This week’s highlight prospect is the first-round selection in the 2025 first-year player draft, Wehiwa Aloy. Aloy has been a menace at the plate for the Baysox lately, with a .667 SLG in the month of September. On the 2nd, he smashed two, two-run homers in a late-inning comeback victory over the Portland Seadogs 5-4. Both homers came off of lefty Tyler Davis, the first being a hanging slider in a 0-1 count and the second a fastball on the outer half of the plate in a 3-2 count hit the opposite way.
It is obvious the Aloy has insane raw power, but the true key to his hitting ability is his cabability to keepo his bat in the zone for so long. Aloy does a great job at staying in his legs and turning behind the baseball and hitting it back to where it came from. In another multi homer game on Augest 5th, Aloy homered in the 1st and 4th. In his third at bat, in a 1-2 count, Aloy swings at a fastball out of the zone and is practically at his neck and hits it 410+ feet. It blows my mind how Aloy is able to keep his top hand so strong and turn so quick on this ball. His swing reminds me so much of Byron Buxton in his ablilty to stay so strong in his mechanics on tough pitches, and to shoot the ball all over the ball park park with such power on said pitches. Aloy is able to make quick adjustments with his approach angle with his turn never seeming like it changes. He creates so much power driving his back half down into the ground keeping his weight back rather than coming to the baseball. At 22 years old he’s a very refined player and seems to be ready for another promotion.
For a future projection, I feel like Wehiwa Aloy could fill the hole at third base that has been left by the injured Jordan Westburg with serious power contributions to the lineup. Aloy has only played 5 games at third at the AA level and only 13 at the High A level, but he has yet to make an error at the position. Aloy definitely has All-Star potential from what he’s shown so far and could be a 60-75 XBH a year guy for the Orioles in the future. taken in Prince George's Stadium by @birdlandwire
