Hi everybody! I’m in Seattle. Earlier today, I stopped by the offices of The Fretboard Journal, the finest guitar magazine in all the land! I picked up a copy of issue 59, with Jeff Tweedy on the cover. I am so honored that they published on the last page my transcription of “Bike” from my album Autechre Guitar on Palilalia Records. The first tabs that they have ever published in their 20 year history! 🤯 also very honored to see the letterpress poster of the score, framed and hanging in their office! 🙏 ❤️🎶 by @birdonsixwires

How does one go about arranging an IDM track for acoustic guitar? GA-based guitarist Shane Parish had to answer this question time and time again while working on his record, Autechre Guitar, deconstructing and reconstructing songs like “Maetl”, “Slip”, and “Eutow” from the iconic duo’s discography. One year ago I released Solo at Cafe OTO, the first LP on my label @redeftrecords . Electric guitar inventions spun out of British and Appalachian folk ballads, plus a song by David Lynch/Angelo Badalamenti. Through transcription and improvisation, uncovering secret passageways in the contours of melodies that were originally sung by Shirley Collins, Anne Briggs, John Jacob Niles, and Jimmy Scott. Recorded at a sold out Cafe OTO in London in November 2023, on a night where I shared the bill with blistering solo sets from my esteemed colleagues Bill Orcutt, Wendy Eisenberg, and Ava Mendoza. Enter the Orridi di Uriezzo, the natural gorges of the Ossola Valley, high in the Italian Alps. This is a montage of moments from my two unamplified performances of Autechre Guitar at Nextones Festival on July 17, 2026. The pure sound of the guitar refracted off the walls of the gorge and floated over the cliffs and out through the trees. Hello! Wow! I’m on my way back to Athens, GA after a short tour unlike any other I’ve done before. Three festivals across Europe in three days, playing electronic music that I arranged for solo acoustic guitar (specifically the music of Autechre Guitar on @palilaliarecords ). I played in the courtyard of a seaside cafe in Helsinki, Finland, I played two unamplified sets in a gorge high in the Italian Alps, and I played at the altar of a mountaintop cathedral in Braga, Portugal, overlooking the sun slowly setting on the city below. The audiences were warm and pin-drop focused, they laughed at my jokes, and showed me so much love. 🙏Many thanks to everyone who attended my shows! Special thanks to @wejazzhelsinki , @odysseusfestival , @nextones , and @extremo_festival for inviting me!Extra special thanks to my homies at @saudadestourneen for managing my logistics and keeping me organized so I can focus on staying healthy and in shape to perform at my best.Love you all!
