Folly Beach has been Birds Eye's seaside home for retreats for well over a decade now. The special salty place where my core design pattern of Restoration>Reflection>Creativity>Connection receives proper space to sink in over a series of days. Where shoreline solo walks usher in fresh perspective and wall mapping reveals both what seeks work and where we want to go. Above are a few images from a recent strategic planning retreat I designed and facilitated for the incredible team of @ashevilleteaco. We had been hoping to make this happen for a good while and I am joyful that the opportunity arrived to really unpack the delicious flavors and positive community impact that meld inside every one of those precious little tea bags. As tea season knocks on the door, please consider stocking up on their most delicious teas. So much goodness goes into every sip. And, if you and your team are interested in exploring a customized Birds Eye strategic planning retreat reach on out! #follybeach #seedtosip #birdseyeview #asheville #restore taken in Folly Beach, South Carolina by @birdseyebiz

Scenes from this week's Birds Eye customized business planning retreat created for one of my favorite teams to work with, @curatetapasbar. It was a joy to settle in and facilitate in this brand new beautifully detailed cabin up at Grier Village's Copper Ridge in Old Fort amidst a cloud forest, and also to have the chance to share about the impactful community work happening through @campgrier, an organization near and dear to my heart, that also benefits from the use of these spaces. And to be able to serve up the incredibly delicious food and menu planning and detailing of Ashley Capps and team @newstockavl and Birds Eye collaborator and dear friend @rachelzink. They are both members of my kitchen dream team from Birds Eye Folly Beach retreats and to reunite them in this capacity back up the mountain made me so happy. And one more shout out to the design team @mother__studio. You all have done a really remarkable job making these spaces look and feel so so good. Oh, and thank you @elyse_ulrichs for the beautiful flowers to enhance the space! This rainy afternoon I am celebrating the whole ecosystem I get to live and create in. Please dont hesitate to reach out if you want to explore possibilities for Birds Eye to design and facilitate one of these experiences for you and your team. ❤️🙏 taken in Camp Grier by @birdseyebiz

Last week’s Birds Eye Folly Beach retreat centered around the theme (Be)yond. This was a chance “to calm the waters on the inside” and reconnect with our Creative Livelihoods, and with the help of the ocean’s ebb and flow, usher in spring through blooms, cormorants, and a bounty of culinary delights. True nourishment for the mind, body, and spirit was granted in so many ways. Thank you to each participant for bringing your own journey and way of being to the table. 🙏❤️. To anyone out there who is seeking a rich experience of Restoration, Reflection, Creativity, and Connection in the form of a customized retreat for you and your team, feel free to reach out and we can discuss possibilities! by @birdseyebiz

I went seeking a place or three to sit. And watch light and shadows. To study the underside of another upturned root system. Not too far from home and without too much time but far enough to quiet the mind and listen for the voice. Not the breathless but-and-but voice but the quieter gentle steadfast strong creative loving Voice that is at the heart of Me. The one that guides me in both sowing the seeds and facing the brambles of my work. This type of solitude and reflection time is vital and I am better for it. Because yes, as always and even more, I and we have work to do. It’s how I fortify. ❤️ by @birdseyebiz

Cheers to the senses of expanse and discovery that ring in with a New Year! Maybe take a moment to envision what you are seeking emerging out on that horizon line. I am stepping into 2025 with immense gratitude for all the wing-spirited sojourners I get to do life, work, and play with. 🙏🦋❤️ by @birdseyebiz

My loved ones and I are safe. This rainbow appeared in our beloved Warren Wilson Valley Monday night. I felt myself grapple with such blatant beauty appearing amidst such devastation. But then I pried open the hatch to let it in as a much needed hug. Communication ability (both internal and external) comes in spurts but to those who have reached out and I haven’t had a chance to respond please know how much it helps us to know that the broader world is with us in this. When the time comes, we will welcome you back wholeheartedly with an even tighter weave on this already deeply heart-strung region. And for now…damn…this hurts, swells, throbs, stings…for so many. Be patient with us. The grief is running deep and wide and everyone is processing at our own rates and in our own ways. I love this place and its inhabitants so much, particularly feeling this pain for all of the small business owners and their teams who feel like extended family. I am so so sorry for all who lost so much. Rivers of tears. I love you. (Note: The send help sign pic was taken day 2, help has since started to come in on that road so I am not posting it as a specific call to action but rather a window in to what has been going on. Countless roads in our region look like this one, cutting people off. Check local organizations such as @belovedasheville for ways to support in real time) taken in Warren Wilson College by @birdseyebiz

Storms. I have been sitting with a collection of entrepreneurs and leaders lately who are going through one. I am sending this post and recent photo I took as a midsummer Hello 👋 while reflecting on the fact that in any given moment some of us are just noticing the rise of one on the horizon, others of us are out there caught in the downpour, and others are emerging out the other side of one. Whichever vantage point you hold currently, I am sending love. You (we) will move through. taken in Culebrita Island - Culebra, Puerto Rico by @birdseyebiz

March 2024 Birds Eye Folly Retreat color palette #1 💛 Time, space, and an inspiring place to revel in the details, feel into patterns & grooves, and honor the rich fragments of life experience exchanged along the way. Here’s to trusting that each tide rolls in the treasures intended for us. And to remembering to take note of where, and to what, and to whom we give our attention. taken in Folly Beach, SC by @birdseyebiz

Birds Eye’s 12th Folly Retreat is underway. Much to reflect on in my own business, alongside participants, as January 1st of this year also marked Birds Eye turning 10. 🎂 There is no place I would rather be to ask myself the reflective questions about what this past decade’s body of work has consisted of (silt-sifting) who its been for and with, and what-who-where is beckoning from the horizon. This time around, we have the special treat of setting up the Birds Eye Schoolhouse & Studios truly seaside so we can keep our gaze on that ethereal line. I know I will have more to share soon, but for now I am on here to express immense gratitude for all who have been a part of the journey, including clients, collaborators, colleagues, and supportive community members. And I am sending out a special variety of salty kisses to fellow folly frolickers/mermaids/pirates of past, present, future. You are my peeps. XO taken in Folly Beach, SC by @birdseyebiz
