Frogs also breathe through their skin. The warmer the water becomes, the less dissolved oxygen it contains. As a result, frogs’ behavior in ponds changes dramatically during hot weather. Instead of diving underwater and swimming away at the slightest sign of danger, they lie almost comatose at the water’s surface, where they can get enough oxygen. #fischerstechen in #gmund #tegernsee. This is a centuries old tradition where fishermen show off their strength and compete on the water. Two boats with rowers gain speed while approaching each other from opposite directions. Once they are next to each other, the rowers lift their oars and hold them upright so that nobody gets hurt. Two fishermen, standing firmly on a platform at the stearn, try to push the other into the water with a blunt stick. The winner is the one who doesn’t fall into the water. In the hot summer temperatures, nobody minds losing! by @birgitneiser
