A final (short) examen:

Humility is a funny virtue.

It took me 4 years to learn that humility is not thinking of your self less, but rather thinking of yourself just as you are. And you would have thought that these 4 years of Cor Jesu would have “humbled” me in the way many people understand it to be done. In the wise words of one of my teachers, “Maybe you should be a cloistered nun. It would teach you some humility.”

Well, I’m not a cloistered nun. But I have learned a great deal about who I am, truthfully. After spending some time in the cell of self-knowledge, and in the campus ministry room, I can say with full confidence that I am made exactly as I am meant to be. I am a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a student. But most importantly, I am destined to be a saint, and you are too. There is no plan B.

So, in my final words to Cor Jesu—friends, teachers, and all those who have been a part of this family—I have so much more to say to you all. But I have all of eternity to tell you.

“For God is my witness, how I long for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus.”
