People! Have you seen these heartbreaking viral videos of Black moms in labor?!? Begging to be seen, heard, cared for… AND BEING TURNED AWAY?! It is unacceptable. Unfathomable. NO ONE should experience treatment like this. NO mother should deliver a child wondering if she will be able to survive a system that is supposed to care for her!For this reason (and sooo many others!!!) I’m proud and honored to partner with @birthfund and help kick off the #BirthFUND100, a cultural power list mobilizing 100 leaders to stand in the gap for mothers. This work is changing what care looks like - giving moms real support, real resources, and real protection when it matters most.Today is #GivingTuesday; if these stories stay with you the way they’ve stayed with me… PLEASE join us. #BirthFUND and #BirthFUND100 are uplifting mothers who have been failed for far too long. And together, we can help make birth safe, equitable, and full of dignity for EVERY parent.Creative direction: @elainewelterothCreative team:@keenanmac @Idr_farah@vikgrossling@harbinger_creative by @birthfund

Healthy babies begin with healthy, supported parents. 💛Since 2024, from the very beginning of birthFUND’s journey, @pampersus has stood alongside us in our mission to ensure families have access to the care and support they deserve during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. When parents are supported, babies thrive. We’re grateful to have partners who believe that investing in families creates healthier futures for all. We’re proud of what we’ve built together so far, and even more excited for what’s ahead. We have exciting things planned and can’t wait to continue growing this partnership to support even more families in the years to come.Thank you for helping make this work possible, Pampers. #pamperspartner by @birthfund

Maternal deaths in the U.S. have more than doubled since 1987. At the same time, intervention rates, hospital spending, and maternal mental health crises have risen—while the supports families need most remain out of reach. Midwives. Paid leave. Postpartum care. Community support. Home visits.Birth isn’t broken. The system is.It’s time to invest in care that keeps mothers alive.#BirthFUND #MaternalHealth #BirthJustice #MidwiferyCare #PostpartumCare MaternalMortality by @birthfund

Every single one of us came from a mother. And in the richest country in the world, we have the worst birth outcomes and the highest maternal death rate in the industrialized world.84% of these deaths are preventable. Full stop Preventable. Meaning we know how to stop them. We are choosing not to.We fight because Kira should be here. Because none of this should matter — the interviews, the moments, the awards. We would trade every bit of it for a safer birth rate. For Kira. For every mom and every baby we have lost.Charles, @birthfund , our partners, the village — we fight to educate, to advocate, and to demand stronger legislation and better care for mothers. We should be celebrating births. Babies. Mothers. The strongest maternal care in the world, but we aren’t there yet.So until that 84% is zero, we won’t stop.Add your name. Join the village.🔗 https://dadsformaternalhealth.com#maternalhealth #advocateformaternalhealth #maternalhealthmatters #eradicatematernalmortality #birthingmomsmatter by @birthfund

Community repost: @nyabryanna ✨🫶🏽💗birth centers: what they actually are and why more people are choosing them • your midwife actually knows your whole pregnancy, not just skimmed your chart before walking in • you can move around, labor how you need, do whatever your body’s asking for • way fewer interventions just bc “that’s protocol” • birth feels like a normal thing your body knows how to do, not an emergency waiting to happenmidwives aren’t doing rushed 5 minute check-ins. they sit with you through the doubt and the fear too, not just the physical stuff. it’s actual continuous support, start to finish. At birthFUND we are honored to provide funding to midwifery centered birth centers across the country. Access to midwifery care changes outcomes and saves lives. #birthcenter #midwifecare #pregnancyjourney by @birthfund

This week is Black Maternal Mental Health Week (July 19–25) 💗Pregnancy and postpartum are hard enough.Black mothers navigate that on top of a maternal health system that too often doesn’t listen, doesn’t believe, and doesn’t show up when it matters most. The result: Black women are far more likely to experience maternal mental health conditions, and far less likely to get the support they need to heal. This week, we’re naming that gap — and the care, community, and resources it will take to close it.💛 Check in on the Black moms and moms-to-be in your life this week. A real conversation can be the first step toward getting support.#BlackMaternalMentalHealthWeek #MaternalMentalHealth #BirthFund by @birthfund

The truth? BETTER CARE. BETTER OUTCOMES. Lower pay.In 31 states, Medicaid still reimburses certified nurse-midwives at just 75–98% of what physicians receive for the exact same vaginal delivery. Not a different service. Not a different outcome. Just less payMidwifery care is safe, effective, and often preferred by the families who receive it — yet policy continues to undervalue it. If we want more people to have access to midwifery care, we have to pay for it fairly. It’s time for Medicaid parity, in every state. 🖤Source: NASHP, ACNM by @birthfund

Momma @michelleobama has spoken and we are so here for it 🫶🏽Maternal health is not clickbait. Our bodies are not buzzwords for political debate. Women are dying in this country — hard stop.Black women die at nearly 3x the rate of white women during pregnancy and childbirth. That’s not a stat to argue over, it’s a crisis to fix. This isn’t about politics — it’s about whether Black and brown mothers get to survive giving life.Listen. Believe women. Keep showing up.Say her name. Say all their names. 🕊️#birthfund #MaternalHealth #BlackMaternalHealth #ProtectMothers by @birthfund

Less than 15% of women diagnosed with maternal mental health disorders receive treatment. 💛Not because the need isn’t real. Not because the science isn’t there. But because our systems still fail to screen, support, and follow through — especially for the mothers who need it most.Maternal mental health is maternal health. Anxiety, depression, and other perinatal mood disorders don’t disappear because they go undiagnosed or untreated — they show up in birth outcomes, in postpartum recovery, in the earliest days of parenting a new baby.At birthFUND, we believe every mother deserves care that sees the whole picture — mind included.📚 Source: Goodman & Tyer-Viola, Journal of Women’s Health (2010) by @birthfund

Imagine being afraid of the thing that’s supposed to bring your family joy. That’s the reality for too many women in Texas right now, where maternal mortality has climbed 56% since 2021.This isn’t just a statistic — it’s mothers who didn’t have to die, families forever changed, and a warning sign we can’t ignore.birthFUND exists to close this gap and make sure every mother has access to the care she needs to survive childbirth.💜 Donate, share, or learn more — link in bio.
