This video is to give you a bit of a vibe of the room, we haven’t shared any of the conversations outside of the space yet as we are working what feels right. The stories my guests are sharing are not just about the music but events, experiences and feelings that accompanied them. Sometimes quite personal, sometimes an insight to how they think and others very entertaining. Our current venue has low lighting, lounges and you can order food and drink during the sessions. You are welcome to move in the space, draw, write and listen. I want this to feel like an extension of your living room and I’ve invited a really interesting guest to take over the sound system. So thrilled to have Antony Hamilton as our final guest for The Art of Listening with Dancers.Antony is an acclaimed Australian choreographer and the Artistic Director/co-CEO of Melbourne’s contemporary dance company, Chunky Move.His works are more than choreography, they are world building cinematic experiences that encompass lighting, design, materials, philosophy and story. I have a new track out! I actually always want to be a dancer and had this been supported perhaps I would have gone in that direction. For the last couple of years I have been practicing contemporary dance as an old gurl, lining up along side young dancers who have trained most of their life. It takes a lot of courage but it feels so good.The art of listening is back tonight. It’s been such a lovely way to connect, meet new people and share passion.I started this project as a response to all the noise and lack of attention span. To appreciate an album as an art form and really sit with it. I created this to build community through music but in environments more soft and intentional. Whist music is the centre point of these events there are so many other practices, memories and stories that intercept with it. The direction with this project is non linear and perhaps I will finally create something which incorporates my vast spectrum of interests. I am bringing some of the dancers who have taught me and inspired me, who have welcomed this old gurl in the dance space. It makes so much sense for this to be the next instalment. So excited to be returning to the wonderful Keeper Brewing for another Art of Listening instalment. A little storey behind the sound system…………The speakers were originally built for outdoor festivals by the crew behind Hopkins Creek. As the festival grew, the system was eventually outgrown and found a new home upstairs at Keeper Brewing, where it’s now lovingly dusted, tuned, and cared for. The space is cosy, food, beer and wine are available. Consider it your second living room for winter.
