[September 26, 2025] The day Jackson was finally discharged from the NICU 👶🏻🍼🩺
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Two weeks to the day from when he was born, our little warrior baby was healthy & well enough to go home from the hospital, without even an oxygen tank.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Given Jackson’s initial grave prognosis, it truly is miraculous he responded so well to all of the meds and antibiotics while in the hospital. Looking at him today, if you did not know this part of his story, you’d never know he was fighting for his life for his first two weeks on earth.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
His name, Jackson Lee Minho, is very fitting…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The name Jackson means “son of Jack” with Jack originating from the name John, which means “God is gracious”. So, by extension, Jackson can be understood as “son of John” (aka @biscuet 😝).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lee is @diannsmyth’s maiden name. So both symbolize heritage, strength, and family connection.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And the Korean name Minho was chosen by my Mom to mirror the 2nd character in Reeves’ Korean name (Youngho). It carries the meanings bright and intelligent, gentle and kind yet strong, and clever and tiger-like, symbolizing bravery and wit.

Though this journey has not been easy nor one we anticipated, Jackson is our strong and brave boy, and God has been so, so gracious.

(Sidenote: according to Reeves, brother’s name is still Grizzly Bear. And I hope that never changes 🫶🏻)

We welcomed our Jackson Lee Minho to the world on Friday, September 12th @ 7:02 pm weighing 8.7 lbs and 19.25” 💙
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Immediately after being born, he was taken to the NICU due to severe complications with his heart and lungs. After assessing with Poudre Valley Hospital’s neonatal team for about 24 hours, he was transferred to the Children’s Hospital in Denver and is currently being treated and loved on here.

✏️🍎 First Day of Preschool 🍎✏️

Where does the time go, truly?!😭
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We weren’t planning on sending Reeves to preschool this year as I’d just thought we’d continue what we’d been doing with our rhythms at home + our weekly schedule of gym class, going to story times and various activities around town, etc. But I’d casually put him on a couple of waitlists & we got offered an ideal morning slot just last week.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My mama’s heart and mind immediately thought, “Wait, this is perfect… 2 half days a week… But is he ready?! Will he be okay? Shouldn’t I just keep him home? I’m not ready to ‘let him go’!”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But Reeves was so excited and ready 🥹
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Goodness, watching our biggest boy grow up has been a journey like no other so far — a beautiful blend of pride, joy, and awe. And I can’t wait to see him transform into a big brother soon.

Over the last six years, an annual trip has taken us to some of the best fly-fishing waters in the US. Four days in the Gunnison Valley of Colorado did not disappoint this year. From big rivers to tiny creeks, it was a joy to explore, laugh & chase trout with these lifelong friends. We caught a ton of beautiful trout, and missed plenty of more.

Floating down the Black Canyon of the Gunnison River was an incredible experience, starting with an epic jet-boat ride up 4 miles of the canyon with our raft attached to the front. Ryan was a trooper on the oars! It was amazing to have something we’ve talked about doing together come to happen.

These trips are always a lot more than just fishing. We had a brown bear come see us up-close on the Taylor River. An older man tell us his story of a Bigfoot encounter. We enjoyed dinning in the beautiful home of gracious new friends met thru Winshape Marriage retreat — sharing both powerful God stories and wild hunting/fishing stories.

We talked thru the good and tough elements of life in our seasons. We encouraged and challenged each other in faith. We read Scripture together. We prayed specific prayers, and saw our good God’s work in action by them.

These trips always refresh my soul in ways that I didn’t know I needed. I leave wanting to be a better husband, father, friend & pastor. Words really cannot express how thankful I am for my friends Ryan Perry & Jonathan “Biscuet” Smyth, and our amazing families that gift us these times away.

These are moments that I think back upon often, fully knowing how lucky I am to have them. I’m genuinely grateful. by @biscuet

Baby had us all fooled except for the 20% who correctly voted ‘boy’ on my poll 😜
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Still in shock and disbelief because I was SO convinced we are having a girl for many reasons!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But we are stoked and can’t wait to witness Reeves become a big brother (or 형 / “hyung” in Korean) to his little brother & for the two of them to become the best of friends for life.

Reeves has said he is getting a baby sister this entire pregnancy until just this past week (scroll to the last video for what he says the day of the reveal!). I asked him what he thinks about getting a baby brother after the party, he whimpered, “But I wanted a baby sister!” 🥹 But he’s already talking up a storm about all the things he wants to do with his little brother and all the toys he wants to show him.

Last weekend, we had the most joy-filled celebratory weekend with our “Three Rex”. And I reflected a lot on the last 3 years and loved the way @jessurlichs put into words some of what I was feeling in my mama heart. So here’s an excerpt from her poem “Today You Turn Three”:

Here we are
How the time has flown by
The fastest and slowest
Years of my life.

Oink, Baa, Moo… Reeves is TWO 🐷🐑🐮

This past weekend, our animal- & train-obsessed boy got to celebrate his big birthday with his grandparents, all of his buddies, & aunties and uncles!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Reevesie (aka “Wooshie” as he calls himself currently) had lots of quality time with the grandparents who all flew in from the east coast. We played at @lilmonstersplayground and with new toys at home, baked a cake & continued our family’s cupcake tradition, saw the fish and frolicked around @johnstownscheels, made a new @buildabear birthday bear, adventured on @georgetownlooprr , ate good food, and sang “Happy Birthday” many times.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The cherry on top to all of the celebrations was the most adorable party at The Farm at Lee Martinez Park where he got to stomp around in the snow seeing his favorite animals, went on a hayride, and did “chicken chores” of feeding the chickens and collecting eggs.

We are so blessed and the luckiest to have the honor of being R’s Mama and Dada, and we continue to cherish these special moments with our sweet, bright growing boy 🥹🩵

Celebrating our 11 year anniversary, my 38th birthday, and Reeves’ upcoming 2nd birthday with this Costa Rican way of life was truly the most perfect and magical way to do so ✨

I now understand why people love Costa Rica so much! The food was incredible, the beaches and sunsets were stunning, and the laidback life style was so good for the soul.

“Pura vida” has taught me to appreciate life’s simple gifts, slow down, celebrate all the good, not take anything for granted, and always live life to the fullest with no regrets.

The way Reeves lights up with the biggest smile and wiggles out of my arms to get to you when you come home from work is one of the best parts of our days.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The way Reeves nestles into you and falls asleep within minutes after I’ve tried to get him down for forever is a testament to how secure and safe he feels with you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The way you provide for and prioritize our family is truly admirable, and I’m so proud of the way you’ve intentionally made time to workout, eat well, read leadership/development books, etc. so you can continue to be there 100% for us from the inside & out!

Happy Father’s Day, Bubs. Fatherhood looks so good on you. No wonder Reeves’ first and most favorite word to this day is “Dada” 💙

Our precious Reeves was dedicated at church yesterday morning alongside 5 dear friends and families from our City Group, with framily in the audience cheering him on + family and friends from all over watching the livestream service! What a gift and amazing blessing community is.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At 13 months old, he is our happy boy who loves people, and his sweet, tender spirit fills us with so much joy!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
@biscuet’s and my prayer is that Reeves would find strength and joy in following Jesus. And that he would know that the kingdom of heaven is his portion and inheritance 💙
