BISSELL Pet Foundation is changing how America solves pet homelessness. For too long, animal welfare has operated in a reactive cycle: pets enter shelters, and we work tirelessly to find them homes. But without addressing the root cause, shelters will always remain overwhelmed.

This is what we're doing.

From the streets to a loving home. 💙💚

When Spookley arrived at the shelter, he was underweight, frightened, and unsure of the world around him. During BISSELL Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters event this month, a family came to meet another dog—but when they met Spookley, they knew he was the one.

On the ride home, they made a special stop for his very first pup cup to celebrate the start of his new life. Now, he'll never have to wonder where his next meal, a warm bed, or a loving family will come from.

There's still time to change a life. Empty the Shelters runs through July 26, with reduced adoption fees at participating shelters across the country.

When wildfire strikes, it's not just companion animals who need shelter. ❤

BPF's Animal Incident Management (AIM) team is on the ground in Colorado, working alongside @operationhumane , @asartraining,and other community response teams to support the Pueblo County Community Animal Response Team (CART) emergency shelter for farm animals.

Companion pets are reuniting with their families fast, but for farm animals, the road home is longer. Burned pastures, damaged fences, and lost shelters mean more time, more care, and more hands are needed. 🐴🐑🐓

This week, our team is caring for these animals and getting them ready for transport home. The Pueblo community is doing an incredible job of supporting the pets and people that care for them.

June was a busy month of transporting pets to their second chances! In just one month, BISSELL Pet Foundation transported 671 pets from overcrowded shelters to shelter partners with space to help them find loving families.

Transport also benefits the receiving shelters, allowing them to select pets that diversify their population—bringing in more foot traffic and improving every pet's chance at adoption. 💙 by @bissellpets

🐾 Big week for pet protection across the Southwest 🐾

Over the last week, our BPF National Shelter Alliance Partners in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Southern California received over 500,000 doses of NexGard products to help ensure pets have access to treatment for New World Screwworm.

Thanks to our incredible partnership with the Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation, BPF's Animal Incident Management program was able to organize access to treatment in the areas most at risk.

The good news: there have been no new reported cases of New World Screwworm in pets. Let's keep it that way! 🙌 If you're in an affected area, examine your pets daily and make sure they have no open wounds before letting them outdoors.

Thank you to every shelter and rescue that has been diligently checking pets and implementing safety programs to protect them. And a special thank-you to all of our Shelter Alliance members leading the distribution of treatment — you are all incredible. 💙 by @bissellpets

Right now, BISSELL Pet Foundation's Animal Incident Management® team is supporting The Animal Protection Society of Durham as they respond to a canine distemper outbreak.

Distemper is one of the toughest challenges a shelter can face. Behind every test, treatment plan, and difficult decision are dedicated staff and volunteers working to protect the animals in their care. BPF is ensuring they have access to critical diagnostic testing during this response.

The APS team has acted quickly to implement enhanced testing, vaccination, biosecurity, and animal care protocols. Because of these efforts, the shelter has safely resumed normal dog adoptions and foster placements while continuing to closely monitor animal health.

These are the kinds of calls we receive every day—shelters facing urgent situations that require additional resources and support.

When shelters need help, BISSELL Pet Foundation is here. Whether it's disease response, emergency support, transports, or other lifesaving resources, we are committed to standing alongside shelters when they need us most.

Meet Grateful Pet Snickerdoodle! 🐾

Snickerdoodle is a loving 8-year-old Dachshund mix who came to his shelter in need of urgent medical care. A bulging disc was compressing his spinal cord, leaving him unable to use his hind legs.

Thanks to BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Grateful Pet program, Snickerdoodle received the surgery he needed to heal. Today, he’s back on all fours, loving life and officially adopted by the family who fostered him. 💙 by @bissellpets
