MY HEART AND MY MISSION SPILLED OUT ONTO PAPER TODAY.
I would like to share it with you:

We don’t cook because we’re hungry.
We cook because someone planted a seed.
Someone watched the weather.
Someone hoped for rain.
Someone rose before sunrise.
Someone cared for the soil.
Someone harvested with hope.
Someone believed their work mattered, even though they would probably never meet the people gathered around our tables.
Somewhere along the way, we forgot those people.
Bite Me Industries exists to help us remember them.
Not to idolize them.
Not to romanticize them.
Simply...
To see them.
Because when we truly see the hands behind our food, gratitude naturally follows.
And gratitude changes the way we cook.
It changes the way we shop.
The way we gather.
The way we waste.
The way we celebrate.
The way we nourish the people we love.
Today, I’m inviting you to see food differently.
Not with guilt.
Not with politics.
Not with nostalgia.
With gratitude.
Food is one of humanity’s greatest gifts.
It nourishes more than our bodies.
It nourishes our souls without words.
It binds hearts.
It defines cultures.
It carries stories, traditions, sacrifice, craftsmanship, and love from one generation to the next.
Every great meal begins long before we step into the kitchen.
It begins with people.
The people who plant.
The people who raise.
The people who harvest.
The people who mill.
The people who steward the land with quiet devotion.
Their work deserves to be seen.
This is our promise, from field to family table.
To honor the farmer.
To teach the cook.
To celebrate the harvest.
Because gratitude changes the way we cook. @usdagov @utahagritourism @utagandfood @redacrecenterut @taggesfruit @cornbellys by @bitemeindustries

Today I geeked out on restocking my kitchen after being out of the country hiking. My primary staples are produce and herbs, and of course I love great cheese. I love making homemade condiments. From that base, I can add just about any protein and have a fabulous home-cooked meal any day of the week. Tomorrow I plan to make a brown butter, butternut squash, macaroni and cheese. I will surely share the recipe with you. It’s great to be back home! by @bitemeindustries

Deep purple Empress plums, a flaky butter crust, fresh thyme, and just enough warm spice to let the fruit do what it does best.

This is the kind of late-summer dessert I love most, unfussy, beautiful, and made for sharing straight from the baking sheet with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream.

If plum season has found its way into your kitchen, tuck this one away for your next farm-stand haul. The full Plum Galette with Thyme recipe is waiting on the blog, ready to print, bake, and make your own.

Some recipes become favorites because they’re impressive. Others become favorites because they simply make you happy every single time you sit down to eat them.

This Dodo Dinner Salad has been that recipe for me for years. Crisp, tender greens, smoky bacon, toasted almonds, and a sweet, tangy Honey Lemon Bacon Dressing come together effortlessly and is a little bit special. Remarkable flavor doesn’t have to be complicated.

Just the other day I added sliced fresh pears, goat cheese, and chicken cutlets for a complete dinner meal, and it was exceptional! 🍐

This recipe found its way back into my kitchen after the first beautiful lettuces arrived in my CSA box. Sometimes all it takes is one fresh ingredient to inspire the next meal.

If you’d like to make this restaurant favorite at home, you’ll find the full recipe, my homemade Honey Lemon Bacon Dressing, and a few kitchen tips waiting for you on the blog. I hope you’ll print it, tuck it into your recipe binder, and enjoy it as often as I do.

Here’s to honoring the harvest, one delicious salad at a time. 🥗💚

Flavor is where it’s at.

A great homemade dressing has a way of turning an ordinary bowl of greens into the meal you can’t stop thinking about. This Honey Lemon Bacon Dressing is bright from fresh lemon, lightly sweet from honey, and finished with rich bacon flavor that brings everything together. It’s simple, balanced, and one of those recipes you’ll find yourself making again before the jar is empty.

I purposely make a generous batch because a great homemade dressing deserves more than one salad. Having a jar waiting in the refrigerator makes it easy to toss together a fresh, simple, flavorful dinner salad any night of the week.

If you’d like to keep this one in your own refrigerator, the printable recipe is waiting for you on the blog. I hope it becomes one of those little flavor builders you reach for. PRINT HERE https://bitemeindustries.com/honey-lemon-bacon-dressing/

STORING AND RIPENING FIRM PEACHES:
Store firm peaches stem-side down in a single layer at room temperature, leaving a little space between each fruit. Resting them on their broad shoulders distributes their weight and helps prevent bruising as the flesh softens.

Peaches continue to ripen after harvest through natural ethylene production, so move them to the refrigerator once they reach the softness you prefer.

These particular peaches are Early Elbertas, historically prized as a canning peach, especially in Utah and throughout the Intermountain West. Also known as Lemon Elberta, Gleason Early Elberta, or Improved Elberta, this heirloom peach cultivar was introduced in Kaysville, Utah, in 1907. by @bitemeindustries
