Maleficent Mistress Of Mischief PSA1 & APPDA EL!

Today Mal and I passed the entry level of APPDA and I couldn’t be more proud. We’ve been prepping for this every week since she finished her PSA 1. This is Mal’s official retirement from trialing in bite sports at 6 years old 😭 it feels like this moment came faster than I could have ever prepared.

Mal is my first sport dog and she has allowed me to try anything that caught my interest. She’s always ready to go anywhere and do anything and that has opened more doors for me than I could have ever imagined. I will forever owe so much of who I am to this dog. Mal hasn’t just been my sport partner but my life partner too. She’s with me every day no matter where I go, sleeps in bed with me every night and has gone on so many trips. Mal is the definition of best friend, soul dog and partner. I couldn’t have asked for a better dog to grow up in my 20s with.

Thank you so much @dogmanjan for going out of your way to make the long drive to Texas for us as we prepped and making sure we were ready as well as introducing us to this new sport. Thank you @arcane_corsos for always being down to do some dog shit and hosting Janson every month as well as the trial. And @art_ofthe_bark & @summuttznamal who never let our mistakes get me down and help us prepare as much as possible today would have never been possible without your help.

Mal holds such a special place in my life and my heart I chose to retire her now to preserve her aging body as long as I can. She’ll come out for fun bites, maybe the occasional ppd competitions and continue her half time shows as well as go back to our local frisbee club to finish out some disc titles! These past 6 years have been such a fun, exciting and educational time with her, now it’s time for her son💜 by @bitey.squad

Mal earned the second leg of her PSA 1 today earning her the title!! I am literally over the moon, I decided on a whim to sign up for this trial last week with very little prep. Mal turned 6 on Friday so it was only fitting she went out with a bang on her birthday weekend. This is officially her retirement from trialing in PSA after 3 years.

As always thank you to the decoys for catching her safely and making today not only a test but fun. Big thank you for @1excelk9 for the fair judging ! And my friends who were there to keep my head from spinning away with anxiety @brithedogtrainer & @itsjustbrezzzy 💜

This was Mal’s third attempt at her level one and she even got Highest Distinction in the Carjack🤗 it’s been a long road of building her to this point and the main person I have to thank she can even do something like this is Parker, he took time to build her a great foundation that carried her many places. Thank you to @art_ofthe_bark & @summuttznamal for always being willing to lend a hand whenever I needed advice and prep. And big thank you to the club we are in for all the reps, and support. I love this purple girl so much and I’m very proud of her today 💟 taken in Lometa, Texas by @bitey.squad

I guess I should finally introduce our newest addition 🙈

Rey The Resilient
BRN 54506
Pablo Pegge PH1 X Raven
4 years old
72 pounds
OFA Hips Excellent
OFA Elbows Normal
Embark clear for all breed relative diseases

We had the opportunity to keep Rey in May to breed her to Kang. While we only had her for a weekend, we quickly fell in love with her and all her traits. I decided to keep my next dog off the pairing because of how much I liked her personality and overall characteristics. Unfortunately the pairing didn’t take, believed to have been too late in her cycle.

Fast forward to a month ago I hear Rey’s owner had moved and is just in a tough situation so she was looking for her a home so she could have more than what she did at that moment. We were not looking for another dog, nor did we need another dog…but when the opportunity to get her came up it was something we couldn’t pass up.

So we’ve had Rey for a month now and she’s gotten very settled into her new life. We’ve grown to love her more than we ever thought in these last few weeks. Her personality reminds us so much of Drax it’s crazy how she came to be ours. In a way she is giving us the years we will never get with him and I truly believe she came for that reason.

The plan with Rey is to breed her to Kang next year. After that potentially breed her again depending on life circumstances. Rey is very sweet and social, she’s environmentally sound, extremely willing to please, has high toy and food drive, strong & full grips, she’s even dog social. In the last month I have thrown her into a lot of new situations with a new handler (grooming, vet, etc) and she has been amazing for all of it. Rey had never done bite work before we had her but showing her small pictures she immediately but a sleeve & suit without hesitation and bit it well under her circumstances. She will continue training towards a PDC as well.

Happy heavenly birthday to the dog that was taken from us way too soon🥺 you would have been 7 today but you’re forever 6. We miss you more than I could ever put into words. We think of you every day and there isn’t a moment we don’t wish you were here. The house is a type of empty without your large self running around. What I miss the most is how happy you were to do just about anything; go outside, see us, play with the dogs, go for a road trip, take hikes, and so much more. Your goofy personality has been very much missing in our little pack and lives. You have taught us to never take moments for granted because you never know when they could be your last. You will forever be on our minds and in our hearts. by @bitey.squad

I don’t think I’ll ever have a dog like him again in this lifetime but I’ll be searching forever for it 🥺

For the last month I’ve been saying I wasn’t going to sign him up for this but after going through the walk through I decided to have some fun since we don’t plan to trial until next year. We didn’t prepare for this in any way so our secondary struggled but there is no question this dog loves some good PPD scenarios. Out of 11 dogs in total Kang placed 3rd in the suit division.

Very bitter sweet considering his first competition was bar bites 2 years ago. Very thankful for the people in our corner right now that are helping me build him up💚 taken in Dogma Academy for Dog Trainers, LLC. by @bitey.squad
