In honor of national suicide prevention and awareness month, I dedicate this post to my dad 🪽

shortly after my dads passing I had a dream about him. In the dream, he told me his last thoughts were of me and my sister. I’ll never know if this is true but I remember waking up feeling like he was reminding me that we are loved.

my dad constantly sends me and my sister little reminders that he is still watching over us. I see him in my everyday life. he keeps me safe, he guides me, and he’s my forever guardian angel

he used to tell me, “it’s what’s in your heart that matters”. he would say that while leaning over and pointing right at my heart. I’ve held onto those words ever since. he taught me that everyone’s heart is pure, precious, and one of a kind. I think love is everything. it’s what gets us through our hardest days

grief has changed my life in a way i’ve never experienced before. I want to keep my dad alive and this is my way of doing so. I say his name. I talk about him. I tell people about who he was. It’s uncomfortable, but I hope that with time, I can become more comfortable sharing my grief and his story 🩵

these years have been the most life changing times, 2025 is a year i’ll never forget. I used to think that everything happens for a reason, but after losing my dad I could no longer believe that. there is no good reason for my dad to leave my life so soon under these circumstances. instead, I’ve learned that things happen - the meaning comes from how you choose to honor what was lost and integrate it into your ongoing life
