Balochistan is the biggest region in Pakistan and extremely rich in resources. In 1948, Balochistan was forcefully incorporated into Pakistan against the will of the people and is largely controlled by the Pakistani military establishment, treated as an internal colony.

Everyone else benefits from Balochistan including the rich elite in Beijing and Washington but the people who are speaking about their land and experiences are forecefully disappearing. In one year, more than 1400 baloch men had enforced disappearances with families not knowing where they are.

In this episode of Solidarity News Roundup, we are joined with Dr Sabiha Baloch (صبیحه بلۏچ), a human rights activist and a leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) to discuss the region’s reality under Pakistani occupation, resource plundering and why the government is implementing enforced disappearances as opposed to military arrests.

Dr Sabiha Baloch stated that there is no legal accountability for disappearances as opposed to an arrest and is used as a tool to create fear and paralyse society. She has also emphasized the importance of collective action, political education, and the role of women in social movements. She has publicly advocated for increased awareness and mobilization among Baloch communities regarding their rights and political situation

Life imprisonment… for speaking up? This isn’t justice, it’s suppression.

Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Sibghatullah Baloch, and other activists have reportedly been sentenced to life imprisonment in connection with the Gwadar incident.

Let’s be clear: This is not just a legal decision.
This is what happens when a state chooses to silence dissent instead of addressing it.

Peaceful voices are being treated like threats.
Political demands are being criminalized.

For years, Baloch communities have spoken about enforced disappearances, state violence, and systemic neglect and instead of dialogue, they’re met with punishment.

No democracy can call itself a democracy if people are punished for speaking out.

When the system stops listening, it starts losing legitimacy.

This doesn’t bring stability! it fuels anger!

We don’t just “condemn” this we reject it.

We demand accountability.
We demand transparency.
And we demand the right to speak without fear.

Because silencing people isn’t strength, it’s failure!!

Yesterday was Baloch Genocide Rememberance Day . The day marks the remembrance , resistance and reckoning. We remember the mass graves of Tootak, uncovered on this date in 2014 , which confirmed a truth Baloch Families had known for years but genocide is not a single event. It is an ongoing system :
Its militarization replacing safety .
Its families waiting decades for the disappeared.
Its land stripped and futures fractured.
This is not a conflict. This is not neglect . By definition and by lived reality, it is genocide.
We remember to resist. We speak to demand justice. We will not look away .

🇪🇺 The EU can’t look away anymore.
Balochistan is an occupied territory, and its people have lived under military rule for decades. Enforced disappearances, raids, and extrajudicial killings continue for decades!

🇪🇺 The EU must hold Pakistan fully accountable and revoke its GSP+ status until Pakistan ends its occupation of Balochistan and real human rights reforms take place. by @biycollective

Last week on Saturday in Paris @generation_panasiatique invited us to one of their discussions about decolonial and internationalist issues in Asia.
Thank you for the shared space and presence, for listening, sharing and learning our story.
The solidarity and reflection around the struggles and narratives of the Tamil, Baloch, Khmer, Hmong, Rohingya peoples have brought us together in one space for solidarity.
These voices reminded us of how essential it is to make these too often unseen stories exist, and especially understand them to completely grasp them.
This was a Call for all the oppressed communities in Asia to continue to connect and build decolonial internationalism, from the bottom. taken in Paris, France by @biycollective

Climate justice isn’t just about emissions or planting billions of trees whilst the act itself displaces Indigenous populations, climate justice is about decolonizing indigenous lands and ending the oppressive systems of colonialism, imperialism and capitalism that keeps benefiting from the suffering of people. "You cannot achieve climate justice without freeing, without liberating those communities."

Join youth activist Yusuf Baluch @yusufbaluch with Mohammad Elnaiem on this fortnight's Decolonial Dispatch as we dive into the region’s reality under Pakistani occupation, resource plundering and how climate justice is inseparable from liberation. Catch the full episode on YouTube - link in bio, or wherever you get your podcasts from, available on both Spotify and Apple.
