Medford Firefighters Memorial Sunday is celebrated each year on the section Sunday in June to honor all active and retired Medford Firefighters who have passed away during the last year. Memorial Sunday has been a tradition for over 120 years and is sponsored by the Medford Professional Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 1032 and the Medford Firefighters Relief Association. The Association is one of the oldest organizations of its kind in the United States. Organized in 1893, it provided a small to the families of deceased members at a time when Firefighters were unable to obtain life insurance due to the hazardous nature of the job.

Today we honored the following members who passed away. These men combined to serve the City of Medford for 237 years.

Retired FF. George E. Cataldo
Retired FF. Robert W. Dondero
Retired LT. Carl A Sacco
Retired Deputy Chief Donald G. McCarthy
Retired LT. Vincent J. Petringa
Retired FF. Paul G. Moreau
Retired FF. Wayne J. Lawlor
