The Altmann × Isotope sold out within 24 hours, which tells us more than any campaign ever could. Collectors understood what they were looking at.

What we created together with @bjoernaltmann is not something that can be repeated quickly or scaled in any conventional way. Each cloisonné dial begins as a solid silver base, engraved and then carefully structured with fine silver wires laid by hand. The enamel is built up in layers and fired at around 850°C, repeatedly, until the surface reaches the depth and clarity we are after. Not every dial makes it through.

The first edition of five was based on a single Osaka manhole cover from Björn’s book Manhole Covers of the World, which documents remarkable designs from across Japan and beyond. Each one carries its own identity, its own balance of typography, symbolism, and composition, and when seen through the lens of cloisonné, the possibilities open up naturally.

We are already working on what comes next, but these dials take months to develop and execute properly. Nothing about this process can be rushed.

A very special project for TAG Heuer.
The book “The TAG Heuer Carrera: The race never stops” is there to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the the iconic TAG Heuer Carrera line.

My part consisted in making over 530 illustrations for the catalogue part of this book. It was quite the task and a good learning curve.
