Thank you so much to all of our talented composers and musicians who played at our September String Quintet Night. It was such an amazing night full of energy, talent, and incredible performances.

For those playing at home… We Are Jeni has been embraced by so many, and I’m incredibly proud to have been part of Jeni Haynes’ extraordinary story.

But as Jeni says herself, this film is not for her, but for “the unknown child” out there.

This was one of the most emotionally challenging projects I’ve ever worked on (especially with daughters of my own), but I felt it was one of the most important to get right… and seeing so many people respond to it with such warmth and empathy has been particularly special.

Not to mention that my eldest daughter sang on the film, giving Jeni’s central alter, Symphony, a voice to sing to. ❤️

Thanks to Film Music Reporter for shining a little light on the soundtrack release.

We Are Jeni can be viewed on a number of platforms globally, but I recommend the SBS Australia version, which is the most comprehensive telling of Jeni’s story. If you’re outside Australia, a VPN may be needed to access it.

Thriller was the first album I ever knew in at home as a weee little kid... and it singlehandedly taught me so much about what music was... what an artist was, a producer, a song, an album, even what a guitar was and who was playing it!
Rock and cinematic storytelling lived side by side for me from childhood.
I’ve wanted to build a fully cinematic MJ piece ever since with a narrative that travels from the childhood dreams to the highest selling album of all time.
