Going for synth tones without a synth pedal, what do we think? Guitar is an old 70s CMI with Gibson p-100s by @bl.guitar

Little film dump from the back half of last year. I got discouraged from posting these earlier because some of the colour rolls got messed up by the lab so it took a lot of wrestling to get them to this point, that’s what I get for being too lazy to do it myself. But now with some shows on the horizon seeing these just makes me excited to spend time with these wonderful people again!

Happy Built To Collide release day for all those that celebrate 🎉 What started as an experiment in ‘how long can I hold tension on one chord before it stops feeling good’ (the answer is forever) turned into one of my favourite collaborations we’ve ever released. A decent portion of the guitars you hear still remain from that original demo, recorded in one afternoon back in like 2023. Honoured to play my small part in contributing to Tess’s stellar new album, it’s out in just a couple of weeks, get ready.

It’s been an absolute beauty few weeks hanging out with @sethandersonsongs and co. Sad I can’t join these cats in SK/MB, look for them if you’re in Sask/Regina/‘Peg, and check out Seth’s new record if you haven’t already! by @bl.guitar

Recent projects

1 - 3: CMI Melody Maker pickup replacement (thanks to @r_guitars for the routing!) from sad old single coils to vintage P100s

4-6: In honour of @arielposen blatantly ripping off my modded gold foil strat from a few years back for his signature model (not really), I finally wax potted these foils and set it up in C#

7 - 8: M216 restoration. Swapped a dead channel with a living one, modded ch1-8 with post-fader direct outs, replaced the dead VU bulbs with LEDs, and recapped the psu.

If you’re in Calgary and have a project in mind, hit me up for electronics assistance!

6250kms* - 21 days - 15 shows - 3 school visits - 2 radio sessions - 4 provinces - 3 times through the first 3/4 of Independance Day - 1 special tour birthday - 10 members of the extended jonnie family in the van at one point or another - 1 theatre to ourselves for a late night showing of Sinners - 1 magician hustling us with card tricks for cigarettes outside a hotel bar.

Innumerable bags of cheesies/moving van aeropresses/late night card games/vitamin gummies/van naps/beautiful connections.

Too many memories to photograph, too many photographs to share here, too many dicks on the wall of the Starlite Room green room.

0 bad shows, 0 bad days.

Let’s do it again, okahay!

New year new toy, it’s not quite as loud in real life as with the phone leaning against it but it is pretty loud, the motor might need oiling. I bought this unit that works great and an identical one that needs repair, hopefully that’ll be fixed and for sale soon!

UPDATE that motor was unhappy but it’s fixed now and so quiet :)

In love with this 68/69 Aria 1532t from marketplace. Such a great sound, this neck is phenomenal, and the midcentury retro-futurist vibes are off the charts. #aria1532t by @bl.guitar
