The @axisgallery presented an artist talk for @raffa_artista Chavez & Co.: Curious Art Collaborators, bringing together Raffa Chavez, Judith Johnson, Shana Berumen and many more, to explore how different perspectives can come together to create new meaning.

From “California Love,” blending maps, mythology, California’s history, and Indigenous roots, to “Messengers,” connecting Native culture, tradition, and our relationship to the Earth, each collaboration tells a story of identity, connection, and place.

Through color, mixed media, symbolism, and shared ideas, their work highlights the power of creating together.

Collaboration becomes more than making art, it becomes a way of creating new stories, connections, and meaning.

Black Book Sessions #35 marked a special moment, bringing together young artists, graffiti writers, families, and supporters for a day rooted in art, culture, and community. In collaboration with @urbanrisingla and @overspray_supply , Black Book Sessions created a space for youth to showcase their talent while creating opportunities for the next generation of artists.

Youth Art Contest
With appreciation to every contestant who participated. Each young artist brought their own perspective, talent, and creative voice to the event, making the exhibition a true celebration of youth creativity.

Congratulations to the artists who received 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place, as well as Best in Show. Your dedication and creativity are something to be proud of.

Graffiti Battle
The Graffiti Battle brought another level of energy to the event, with teams coming together to share their skills, styles, and creativity. A particularly memorable moment was @thusendent and @kaliko_artz_ participate as a father-and-daughter team.

Congratulations to the graffiti battle winners, @el_pabloco45 and @josesteamartinez.

We are grateful to every crew that participated and contributed to the spirit of the battle.

A big shoutout to @mobbsosa.la and @theshineon_events for leading the way and inviting the DJs and performers who shared their musical talents with the community.

To every artist, contestant, family member, volunteer, collaborator, sponsor, and supporter who helped make Black Book Sessions #35 possible…

Thank you for showing up, creating with us, and continuing to support the YOUTH!
