I feel seen by this latest review for IF YOU LOVE SOMEBODY, TELL THEM by @realrootscafe (originally in Dutch!!). It came out over the weekend in the Netherlands, and I’ve got a couple of days off in Philly and New England and some time to share this.

I’ll finish this leg of my tour @blackbirdnorthampton on Wed; @burrenbackroomseries in Boston on Thurs; @meandtheothermomshows on Fri in New Haven; and @milburnstonetheatre on Sat in North East, Maryland.

This is the first album where I haven’t been playing with a steady band lineup at the time of the recording. In a way, it’s my first solo album.

But it wasn’t any less collaborative, because @davidwimbishandthecollection and @sumnerphi were there with me from the start, picking apart lyrics, chord choices, melodies, keys, putting them all back together with instrumentation, background vocals and as many takes as we needed to capture the Feel, with a capital F.

These guys offer such creativity, imagination, mastery, honesty, gentleness, kindness, integrity, purposefulness, standards of excellence. These past couple of years have had me swimming alongside musicians and songwriters that outclass me by every measure I can think of, and I just feel so grateful to have partners that will help me to create more than I’m capable of.

These ending harmonies on “The Village” are some of my favorite moments on this new album. James, David, thank you for the mutual trust.

David & I will hit the road together again, Nov 11-21. Tickets and details for this month at pinkertonraid.com/tour

Playing with our friends right in the middle of downtown? Resurrecting the ghost of the Pleasant St Theater? Come support the new scene at @blackbirdnorthampton with us and the boys of @beholdtruebelievers. BYO blanket. Doors at 7. by @blackbirdnorthampton

Cool @outro_band show coming up Friday with the great @beholdtruebelievers at the new venue @blackbirdnorthampton

Especially fun as the Unlucky Shots drummer @officialmikebenoit plays drums in @beholdtruebelievers and I play drums in @outro_band, so will be a drum fiesta.

Little known fact, before he started playing drums in my band, I used to play drums in Mike’s band Endless Mike. by @blackbirdnorthampton
