Another day of apple pressing...

Today we pressed a tonne of Brown's apples, and got a better juice yield than the apples so far. With hands stained from the tannins we headed to the pub @thethirstybearwarwick for a lovely cider!

Happy National Black Cat (Cider) Day!

Why not celebrate with a Black Cat Cider?

Here’s a few pictures of the inspiration for our name….Piddle and Snoops (who is sadly no longer with us).

Our Devon Drop is now on at The Black Horse in Moreton Morrell. A medium cider made with a blend of heritage cider apples. One of our favourites so far!

If you haven't been to this pub yet, we'd definitely recommend a visit. A proper country pub with a good selection of real ales and now a lovely real cider!

Brilliant morning spent with @blackcatcider cheers Greg and Gem, very kindly given 2 builder buckets of "Dabinett apples", pressed at home, just over 6 gallons of juice gravity at 1.066 equals roughly 8.4% ABV. Wild cider no yeast, just natural fermentation. Last batch of the year. #traditionalcider #homemadecider #theshirlsmadhouse #blackcatcider #warwickshire cheers 🍺🍺🍺🍺 by @blackcatcider

A nice little piece about our Apple Day in the local paper...

Another tootle...down to Taunton, Somerset then on to the little lanes of Devon...and back again.

First stop was Taunton where we had the opportunity to visit @ploughinntaunton ...they have a great selection of real Somerset cider. We tried a few from their choice of twelve!

After a stopover we were on to Devon to pick up some more fermenters! We're hoping to keep pressing as long as we can get apples.

Then on the way back a quick stop at the legendary Wilkins Farmhouse Cider. We managed to time it just right to see them pressing too. After a quick half, a photo with Roger Wilkins himself, and furnished with a chunk of their fine cheddar we were on our way.

A journey across to Herefordshire to pick more apples, and we made a new friend in the orchard.

What a great Apple Day!

Thanks to everyone who came and helped make it such a success. There was apple pressing, games, morris dancers, rock 'n' roll music, food, drink and of course lots of our cider!

See you again next year!

Don't forget our Apple Day event this Saturday (17th October) in Barford, just outside Warwick. The weather is looking bright so should be a good day!

We'll be serving a selection of our ciders made in the village as well as real ale and other refreshments.

There will be apple pressing demonstrations with opportunity to press your own.

Entertainment includes morris dancers and The Mystery Train Rock & Roll Band. With games... Turnip Skittles and Dunk the Dibbler!

Here's some pictures from last year, we hope to see you there!

Link in bio for more details.
