I pray often! I always thank God that I don’t look anything like I’ve been through. That I was raised and surrounded by God fearing women. And that I was never taught that giving up was an option.

AS A 40 PLUS YEAR OLD, BEAUTIFUL, ASSERTIVE, SINGLE, BLACK MOTHER
I have always felt like I have to be ready for battle. Whether it’s an attack on my age, my complexion, my marital status, my worth, etc.

Although it can be so painful! I Pray. I refuse to allow someone else’s words, lies, or opinions change who I am.

I personally do not know anyone who wouldn’t benefit from $20,000 to put towards something they are passionate about.

This grant is open to all skill levels. So yes, even you who is still working to upgrade from filming from your smartphones. This could be your opportunity!

This next life might not be easy but it will be EASIER.

If you take anything at all away from this post I want it to be:

• The best is yet to come
• Don’t allow your age, marital status, or past mistakes make you operate from a place of shame.
• You are unique and have something to offer. Your words, experiences, challenges could change someone’s life!
• Use your pain as power. You survived for a reason.
• Nothing great grows in comfort. Choose if you want to be a lily or a dandelion. (I battle with this the most every single day)

I want to shout out my sister @torontoshay for always encouraging me to share that I’m more than just a pretty face. And @jariatudanita for her post this morning. Both of you inspired me to hit share today.

You just be never know who you’re inspiring. I have to use this platform wisely.

I truly believe the secret to my skin’s success has been sunscreen. Once I started purchasing my own skincare, I remember wearing a daytime cream that had SPF in it. I used it for years.

Now that I’m more intentional about my layers, @blackgirlsunscreen is what I use for my protection and glow! There are a variety of strengths and consistencies. I’m using the SPF 30 infused with Jojoba and Avocado for face and body.

I’ve sung sunscreen’s praises since the beginning of my social media journey, and I’m so proud to say Black Girl Sunscreen is the first to offer me a campaign. Made by women of color for people of color...

Both my kids were born on the same day! When I’m asked about a cool or unusual fact about myself, that’s what I always mention.

On top of that they are pretty cool kids (now adults). It’s a huge blessing when you can raise your kids from ‘I’m not one a yuh likkle fren dem” to “call me back I need to tell you a secret!”

My kids are my inner circle and I love that. It’s even more special to me that they feel the same about each other. Their love for one another makes me feel like I’ve done my job.

I hate not being with them today. But for me, it’s better to be away from both than to just be with one. We have to resurrect our annual trips. I love experiencing life with y’all.

See you both soon. Love you both till death do us part.

Happy Flyday my peeps!

I made this video because I found it interesting how differently a chart can categorize you versus how you actually feel and function in your body.

BMI can be one data point, but it doesn’t tell the whole story of someone’s health. And I think it’s important to remember that bodies, health and circumstances are different for everyone.

This isn’t about saying one body size is better than another. It’s simply a reminder that a number doesn’t define a person’s health or their worth. ❤️
