The KRX rear stub shaft is a well-known failure point. When it breaks, it can take out the engine oil pan, turning a relatively simple repair into a very expensive one.

Upgrading to a dual carrier bearing chromoly stub shaft helps protect against this common failure and adds peace of mind on the trail.

We've had one of these @voodoo.rr stretched Kawasaki KRX 1000 builds in the shop recently for a gear reduction install, and we've got to say...this platform is next level.

The longer wheelbase completely changes the personality of the KRX. It's purpose-built for technical rock crawling, steep ledges, and the kind of terrain that makes Southern Utah famous.

BEHIND THE WRENCH

One of the biggest weak points we see in the Polaris XP 1000 and older Turbo transmissions? The OEM transmission bearings.

Polaris uses inexpensive Chinese-made bearings that are known to fail over time — especially in harsh off-road conditions, oversized tires, aggressive riding, rock crawling, mud, or added horsepower. When those bearings let go, they don’t just stop there. We commonly see damaged gears, contaminated transmissions, and in severe cases, destroyed transmission cases that turn a simple repair into a major rebuild.

At Black Flag Off-Road, we recommend upgrading to high-quality Japanese-made bearings while the transmission is apart. Stronger materials, tighter tolerances, better reliability, and far better durability for the abuse these machines see in the real world.

A bearing upgrade now can save you thousands later.

Wrapped up a transmission yesterday … and two more transmissions hit the bench today.

Customer’s Polaris RZR XP 1000 came in after one of the OEM bearings seized up and wiped out multiple gears inside the transmission. Instead of throwing the same weak parts back in, we’re upgrading it with high-quality Japanese-made bearings over the factory China bearings and installing a gear reduction while we’re already inside. Built stronger. Built smarter.

And rolling in fresh from @voodoo.rr — a stretched Kawasaki KRX Krawler ready for a gear reduction setup before it heads back out to the rocks. This thing is going to be an absolute animal when it’s done.

CLUTCH ALIGNMENT.

If your clutches are out of alignment, even slightly, you can run into:

• Premature belt wear
• Excessive belt heat
• Poor shifting performance
• Sluggish acceleration
• Belt squeal or chirping
• Inconsistent engagement
• Clutch drag
• Reduced belt life

And the crazy part? A lot of people keep replacing belts thinking the belt is the problem… when the real issue is alignment.

Proper clutch alignment helps the belt ride correctly in the sheaves, keeps temperatures down, improves efficiency, and helps transfer power the way the machine was designed to.
Especially here in Southern Utah where we’re pushing machines through sand, rocks, steep climbs, and long rides in brutal heat — clutch systems get WORKED.

At Black Flag Off-Road, we don’t believe in “one size fits all” clutch setups or throwing random parts at problems. We inspect the full system and make sure things are actually working together correctly.

If your machine feels off… there’s usually a reason.
