Introducing B.O.N.D.

Brothers Overcoming, Nurturing & Developing, ABGH’s Men’s Health Initiative.

B.O.N.D. is building a national platform focused on advancing men’s health through education, connection, community engagement, and action. As the initiative expands, we are creating new opportunities for collaboration across IBD, colorectal cancer prevention, liver health, health equity, patient education, and other areas where industry and physician leaders can help move men’s health forward.

Join us for the B.O.N.D. National Meeting on Monday, October 12 at 6:30 PM at the National Museum of African American Music in Nashville.

Brick by brick…

We’re building something great, something that far outlasts us - changing the trajectory and narrative of men’s health.

B.O.N.D. (Brothers Overcoming, Nurturing & Developing) is @blackingastro’s newest initiative, led by @realdoctorugo and I, aiming to advance men’s health through meaningful partnerships, clinical excellence, leadership, mentorship, and community.

And it’s a movement! Monday’s B.O.N.D. National Meeting in Nashville, TN at the @thenmaam exceeded our expectations! We sold out the event, more than doubling our the participation from our first national convening in Chicago. Even more exciting, we connected members with their regional peers, strengthened the foundation for local leadership, and officially launched B.O.N.D. CONNECT, our national digital community for peer mentorship, clinical learning, and year-round connection.

Thank you to the entire ABGH board of directors, our executive director, staff, and supporters. @blackingastro, a 501(c)(3) founded by 11 GI physicians in 2021, is 5 years old with over 500 members. And we’re still growing, still influencing, still impacting the health of communities we serve, and still supporting physicians and other clinicians and scientists across the diaspora.

The house that ABGH has built.

We’re still recovering from an epic night that was The B.I.G. Event - Nashville! A 5th birthday party for the ages. 🎉

In the dopest venue, filled with the rich history of our music and its historical significance, The National Museum of African American Music housed over 200 of us for an unforgettable evening. We networked, expressed our gratitude for our growing community of Black GIs and hepatologists, and celebrated unapologetically for how far we’ve come.

We are so grateful to our membership, our industry sponsors, and our allies for showing up as their authentic selves Monday night.

Sometimes the work you do to help others opens doors you never imagined walking through. 💙

At my first ACG, I presented three posters—and one of my case reports was recognized as an ACG Presidential Poster Award recipient.

The award was for “Miliary Deception: Peritoneal Tuberculosis Masquerading as Ovarian Carcinomatosis in a Young Immigrant Woman” (P1349). The FIT screening poster pictured here was a separate project, and I’m proud to have shared both.

I’m grateful to my mentors, collaborators, and the Morehouse community for helping me keep this work moving forward. Three posters. One award. First ACG. Still taking it all in. ✨
