EP «Past Perfect Continues» OUT NOW ↓

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

“Past Perfect Continues”, the first EP by @blacklikeoil, is out now on all digital platforms 😎

This EP can be compared to a video store with soundtracks to episodes of our lives. That’s why their songs, despite how different they are - some of them are melancholic, some are full of passion and energy - all are dreamy.

What do you think about this new release? 😉

«Icarus» is out now on all digital platforms⚡️

Authors: Black Like Oil
Genre: Synthwave, youthbase, hope-pop
BPM: 150
Timing: 02:41
Release Date: 24.11.23

Synopsis:
In our new track «Icarus» we’ve tried to express this interesting side of synthwave music: on the one hand, it can be dreamy and thoughtful, on the other - reactive and rushing forward.
The heroine of our song asks herself about her path - she’s moving forward and everything seems to be alright, yet it’s combined with uncertainty, doubts.
You have to accelerate just to ignore all obscurity - isn’t that a definition of youth?
Extreme conditions, exuberance and high spirit - ask Marty McFly about them. Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!

Our first track we wrote inspired by “Drive” and 80’s aesthetics, by the way, we are very into retromania and our next releases will be from the vhs era too.
⠀
Then we liked the soundtracks so much that we decided to make our own track that we thought could be played in this movie.
I think that’s when we decided what kind of music we wanted to make together, which was to make our own soundtracks.
⠀
Music in movies is a separate genre, containing the diversity of all the others.
Its job is to create an association, to complement, hyperbolize and romanticize the moment.
That is why soundtracks trigger a multitude of images that we can try on ourselves.
⠀
That’s what we want to create - images and atmospheres. So that the music changes reality and the listener can feel like a character in the movie.
⠀
“VIDEOSTORE” is our virtual basement with a neon sign and a showcase of video tapes and records. An invisible thread between meanings. An idea that unites like-minded people (you and us).
⠀
Here we will share our music and refer you to different movies in which we found inspiration for our songs.
And you can feel yourself a hero of these stories, to our tracks, of course).

«Happily Ever After»

Authors: Black Like Oil
Genre: Synthwave, dreampop, sentimental sigh
BPM: 89
Timing: 03.25
Release Date: 14.12.2023 “Past Perfect Continues” EP

Synopsis:

In the cult TV series “Twin Peaks”, bad guys in leather jackets break girls’ hearts.
Our “soundtrack” is dedicated to this close and “fairy tale” plot: bad guys are bad guys when you’re alone and it seems like life has stopped, it’s over.
Like a lonely singing girl against the background of a red curtain - David Lynch’s signature touch.
