In celebration of the 78th anniversary of the arrival of HMT Windrush in 1948. 2019 marked the 1st Windrush Day and the modern-day mass migration from the Caribbean Islands.

Three classic books chart the story of the Windrush generation:

The Lonely Londoners by Sam Selvon (1923-1994) - pub 1956.
"One grim winter evening, when it had a kind of unrealness about London...Moses Aloetta hop on a number 46 bus at the corner of Chepstow Road and Westbourne Grove to go to Waterloo to meet a fellar who was coming from Trinidad on the boat-train."

'The Congregation' by Artist @rudyloewe was installed at Brixton station last November 2025 with a screeing & conversation event @ritzy_cinema

The temporary artwork will be on display until late 2026.
Pick up a beautiful detailed map at Brixton Station. It gives the background & history to 20 features depicted within the painting.
