Work begins on my Path of Command Aeldari Autarch. Myself and @zebamunda have decided to do a little challenge and both paint up the mini. Giving ourselves the while of September to paint the mini. I don't have an Aeldari army so I don't have to worry about matching an army scheme. To that end I chose to do an Altansar scheme on my guy. I've always liked the character Maugan Ra and so decided to do the colours of his once lost, now returned, craftworld. Pictured here is how I started the armour this afternoon and how it has turned out at the end of the day. Happy with how it's looking, and far more colour mixing than I would usually do, to get the end result. I think I'm going to work on the helmet next.

Sorry this is a wall of text 😅. Smaug. The King under the Mountain. I've had this kit since it first released 12 years ago. I remember rushing out the morning he was available to preorder and placed that order at my local independent store at the time. I was so excited when I got a call that it had arrived and that I could go and pick it up. I rushed to the shop asap when I finished work. I was told by the store owner that they had had several offers (of more than I paid for him) to buy the model from a few other customers over the day who'd seen him tucked behind the counter. My then gf (now wife) met up with me, and the model went back to her flat (she was still a student, I'd just finished Uni), where I looked over all the bits and then he stayed there for the next few months until we rented our first flat together. The flat I had at the time was damp and cold and no real hobbying was done for the whole time I was there. Since then its moved between a 2nd flat, our first home and now current home. Still in the same bag I collected him in haha.

Every so often I'd tell myself I was going to start him soon, or this year or next year. I never did. I was always so scared to work on him. I've always worried I was going to ruin him in some way. Mostly through a poor paint job. But the other week, whilst assembling various other models, that urge to finally start him came again. And I thought to myself 'Do him. What have you got to actually fear. You've been doing this hobby for 24 years now. You've built so many models that it shouldn't phase you. You built a warhound titan last year. If you can do that you can do Smaug. You can paint well enough. Not like competition worthy, but well enough. You won't ruin it.'

And so here we are. With my 2nd largest resin model now all washed and drying off. Waiting to start assembly. I'm looking forward to the project and seeing how it turns out, no doubt several months from now haha 😆.

Some almost finished Squats. A few little details still to pick out and some highlights to apply here and there. Mainly want to pick out the armour and weapons. Also add a little dirt in some recesses, they are miners after all. They have also had their first game against @zebamunda which ended in a surprising win. Not bad for a first game.

Recently got into Legions Imperialis. Someone gave me an intro game towards the end of last year, and now I have over 3000 points of tiny marines. Not including my solar auxilia or titans. Either way, I and 5 others are now doing a campaign starting at 1k each. I have done two games so far, and these xiphon's have been absolute menaces, haha. So now I have time to take them beyond just being purple, I have decided they will also get some markings to make them stand out. A squadren leader and his wing man. I've decided the gold stripe down the white marks them out as phoenix pilots. Has no effect in game, just something someone told me existed in aeronautica imperialis and seems appropriate for their exploits so far.

It's been a while since I posted, but I felt like sharing this. I've been doing some work on my Gotrek model. It's just been sitting in my cupboard for ages, unassembled, and not painted, haha. Decided to change that. I'm really happy with how it's going so far. Love the beard/hair, and I'm quite happy with how the skin is looking. It is something I really struggle with normally, but this is looking passable 😆. The base is like 95% contrast paints, and it's looking pretty decent so far I think.

3 Hobbits finished. By no means my best work, but they look good enough at arms length, haha. I must have originally started these 6 or 7 years ago. When I dug them out recently, I didn't like what I'd done, so I pretty much started over on them. Will go back and add a little grass to the bases when I get few more Middle Earth minis finished so I can do a big group of models together.

I've been working on The King of the Dead for a game this weekend. He's mostly done here. There are a few places I can see in the picture where I just need to go in and tweak a couple of bits. But otherwise, I'm happy with how it's going so far.

It's been a long time since I last posted, but this seems like a good post to come back on. This is a finished diorama I've made for a Black Coach for my sister's birthday present. She doesn't play warhammer. She just saw my (unfinished) Black Coach and thought it looked cool. So asked if I would do one for her at some point if I found another cheap enough (mine came cheap from eBay, new on sprue). So, given it was for a present, I decided to try and push the boat out a bit and decided to make a whole diorama base for it. So we have the Black Coach chasing down the poor, terrified Johann from the giant/gargant kit. All the little mushrooms, pumpkins, little plants, and the trees are from Epic Basing, which I printed myself. The trees were scalled up to 250%. Apologies, the photos aren't the best, but it's a bit big and awkard to light, haha. Overall, though, I'm very happy with how it's turned out.
