@jacque4dc votes with his son's future in mind while honoring his parents' past.

Growing up in the Jim Crow South, his parents experienced a time when the right to vote was systematically denied to Black Americans. Their history shapes his WHY.

For Dr. Patterson, voting honors the generations who came before him and stands tall for the son who comes after him.

Join Dr. Patterson and other Black men voting early on October 24th, National Black Man Voter Day.

Daryl Gates' LAPD as a 'gold standard'? 😳 When most Angelenos hear that, we think Rodney King and the '92 riots, not nostalgia. Some experiences of history aren't so golden. #AMorePerfectUnion #LAPD #HistoryLessons #LAMayor #Debate #KBLA taken in Los Angeles, California by @blackmenvoteofficial

If somebody owed you money, would you just let it slide?

@theactionjackson makes a point worth thinking about. If someone owed you money, you wouldn't just shrug your shoulders because you forgot to fill out some paperwork. You'd be asking questions and demanding answers.

So why should civic accountability be any different?

Whether you voted in the last election or sat it out, your past participation doesn't determine your ability to get informed and engaged today.

The hotel is booked. The fits are ready. The group chat is already acting up. 😂🏈

Before you hit the road for homecoming, make sure your voting plan is on the checklist too. Know when and where you’ll vote, check what you need to bring and plan around your travel.

Then drop a reminder in the group chat so your crew can get ready too.

Handle your ballot. Then handle the weekend.

Link in bio for voter information.

Everybody has their reason. What's yours? 🗳️

For some, it's family. For others, it's their community, their future, or the issues that hit closest to home.

Whatever your reason, your WHY is personal.

We caught up with @wordsofwisdom27 to hear what motivates him to vote and why civic participation matters.

Now we want to hear from you. What's your WHY? Drop it in the comments. 👇🏾
