By far one of our most sought after featuring designers in our booth, @blackpicasso101 brought the art to wearable art on our runway with one-of-a-kind outerwear pieces and his true passion for his first love and medium, painting.

Hakim waters aka Black Picasso, a visionary artist and designer, honed his craft at the New England Art Institute, where he formed a pivotal partnership with Adrian Brown. Their collaboration gained international acclaim when Drake commissioned six custom denim jackets, amplifying Black Picasso’s artwork through a viral social media repost. His innovative designs earned recognition from prestigious outlets such as Complex, The Improper Bostonian, and Hypebeast, culminating in being named Boston’s Best of 2018.

Now based in Oakland, California, Black Picasso continues to shape the cultural landscape, designing iconic logos and clothing. His creative influence spans coast to coast, blending artistry with impact. A committed advocate for mental wellness and artistic opportunity, Black Picasso collaborates with community leaders to uplift and inspire. Most recently, his celebrated Attack of the 50ft Woman T-shirt was prominently featured in four music videos by LaRussell and Hit-Boy during Black History Month, resonating from Los Angeles to the Bay Area.

For emerging designers, the push and pull between scale and intimacy is the ever-looming question. Where do ethics end and scalability and commercial acclaim begin?

We sat down and talked with Hakim Waters of Black Picasso to get his perspective.
