🪶 Happy Hoodoo Heritage Month! 🕯️

Allow me to reintroduce myself…

I’ve been reflecting on my ancestors, the traditions that shaped me, and the journey that brought me to where I am today.

Some chapters are closing (@questtheconduit), while others are beginning (@blackshearintegration). But the roots remain.

A little of my story and an introduction to what’s next.

- Quest

There was grief in letting go of an identity I had carried for years.

Even when you know it’s time to move forward, saying goodbye isn’t always easy.

I am a Brown. On my mother’s side, I come from the Browns and Blackshears. On my father’s side, the Meadows.

I grew up surrounded by family traditions, wisdom, and practices that I would later come to understand through Hoodoo.

They didn’t necessarily call it Hoodoo. It was simply part of how our people lived.

Each lineage carries its own history, lessons, and ancestors. I honor them all.

I never had the opportunity to meet my grandmother, LaVoila Blackshear, in the physical world.

Yet she has become one of my greatest teachers in spirit, guiding me toward truths about my ancestry, my family, and my spiritual path.

My mother and the generations before her shaped me in ways I didn’t fully understand growing up.

As I got older, I began to open my eyes and see our family’s stories, traditions, and wisdom through a different lens.

My spiritual experiences led me into years of research, reading, practice, questioning, and unlearning.

The more I’ve studied Hoodoo, the more I’ve come to know that it’s apart of who I am. I’ve come to love its history, its traditions, and those who preserved them.

I will always be a student.

My journey hasn’t been linear. I’ve experienced seasons of searching, healing, breaking down, and rebuilding.

Some of my greatest lessons came when I stopped trying to control who I was becoming.

Quest The Conduit gave me room to explore, heal, and discover different parts of myself.

That identity carried me through an important chapter, but I’ve outgrown the persona I created along the way.

Quest remains. The Conduit can rest.

Everything I’ve experienced, studied, and practiced has shaped how I show up for o by @blackshearintegration

TRiPS is bigger than any one of us.

It’s the people who show up, share what they know, ask better questions, hold space for each other, and keep building community together.

Today, our community has helped us raise $2,250 toward our fundraiser and the next chapter of TRiPS.

We’re grateful for this team, and even more grateful for every person who continues to show up, support, and grow with us. 🍄

It was a perfect night to celebrate entrepreneurship in Pittsburgh on Tuesday as we hosted our Founder’s Flex Happy Hour @eastendbrewing!

Executive Director Anneliese mingled with entrepreneurs like Jonathan, founder of @healhomie.

And our Comms & Ops Administrator atiya served for the camera with Perforated AI’s Ralph.

While incubation grads Rina of Katch Sports and Roger of Hardly caught up on the latest in life and business.

Board members Lara, Jeanette, and Caitlin posed with our Operations Director Christina.

And some new faces joined us from @startuppgh for refreshing beers and out of this world pizza.

Huge thanks to everyone who joined us and East End for being wonderful hosts.

Hope to see everyone again soon!

A lot of blood, sweat, tears, and belief went into getting here and it’s going to take a lot more to get to the next stage.

The news is out. @healhomie was selected for Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute Pathways Fellowship in partnership with @innovatepgh412 , bringing $40,000 in support toward building the next evolution of Heal, Homie.

For the next nine months, we’re building out our MVP with access to CMU’s resources, people, and ecosystem.

We started with clothes.
We built community.
Now we’re building what comes next. 👣

Meet Jonathan “Quest” Brown (@questtheconduit)! He’s a F.I.V.E. Integration Specialist, and he’ll be the one holding our biweekly Integration Circles. You can meet him TODAY during our next Circle!

Quest is the kind of person who can sit with the real stuff without making it heavy or weird. He’s a Pittsburgh native, a dad, a creative tech/system-thinker, and also a grounded facilitator who’s trained in multiple modalities (yoga, sound, meditation, Reiki) and has done several trainings in this space, including with F.I.V.E.

What we love about him: he’s not trying to impress anyone. He’s here to help people navigate the waves - the tender, the messy, the confusing, the “I don’t know what to do with this” parts that can show up after experiences.
