Some have called my love (some say obsession 😬) for all things overlanding a midlife crisis…others think it’s just because I like gear (fair, I do)…But really it’s about me re-focusing my energy and buffering my mental health at a stage of my life where that is really needed.

So regardless of what is ailing you…mentally, physically, and/or emotionally…get outside, get some sunshine and wind in your face, feel the dirt, and remember what life was like when you camped as a kid. Go find some trail therapy. by @blackteqrunner

Dating back as far as Antiquity, Rome and ancient Egypt saltwater and marine air was used to treat numerous conditions. Sufferers of depression, skin problems and other various issues were treated by bringing those people to the sea using a therapy technique called THALASSOTHERAPY.

Those that have been to the ocean understand the healing effects of being near it. Growing up in high school, I would go surfing before school as a way to regulate myself.

Those days I would have salt water dripping out of my ears and nose, but I would have a focus that medication could not replicate. It seems simple, but sometimes the best way to start to move forward is to put your toes in the sand and let that sunshine do the rest.

Through some of the most difficult times in my life, the thing I found to be the hardest was not becoming like the person who hurt me. It’s so easy to take the low road and repay an eye for an eye, but the moment you do that you become just like them and lose any high ground you’ve worked so hard to obtain. Once that happens, that vindictive ugly person will be waiting… pointing their judging finger at you saying “YOU’RE JUST LIKE ME”.

Sometimes all you need are some glizzies, cold beer and a view.
The 2 Cook 3 Pro I got over at @avoverlandsupply is hands down the easiest camping stove I’ve owned. Non stick and no fuss, can’t be beat.
