We’re a passionate team of marine biologists, conservationists, and ocean enthusiasts who believe coral reefs are worth protecting. Our work safeguarding Koh Tao’s marine ecosystems is built on three fundamental pillars that turn passion into real conservation impact:

🎓 Education: We train the next generation of marine conservationists through hands-on conservation courses, teaching practical skills that make a real difference for ocean protection.

🔬 Science: Our research projects generate meaningful data through systematic monitoring of sharks, sea turtles, sea slugs, crown of thorns, coral restoration, and marine debris. Every dive contributes to the scientific understanding needed to protect these ecosystems.

🤝 Community: We bring people together through beach cleanups, dive against debris operations, and ocean insights events. Conservation works best when marine scientists, students, volunteers, and locals collaborate.

Koh Tao’s popularity as a world-class diving destination brings both opportunity and responsibility. A simple way to help to protect the ocean 🌊🗑️

Join us every Sunday for our weekly beach clean-up.

Beyond catching the sunset and meeting new people, these regular cleans play a vital role in local marine conservation. 🌅

Every piece of debris we remove from the shore line is one less hazard for local wildlife and prevents persistent plastics from breaking down into microplastics on our reefs. 🐢🪸

We meet every Sunday at 5:30pm at Black Turtle Dive.

What an incredible investigation! 🕵️‍♂️🪸

For Day 5 of PADI AWARE WEEK our participants stepped into the shoes of Coral Detectives for an action-packed session where marine science met mystery-solving!

What We Did
The Briefing: We uncovered the secrets of the reef, diving into what a coral actually is (animals, not rocks or plants!), exploring their basic anatomy, and mastering essential coral ID tips.

The Investigation: Participants put their new detective skills to the ultimate test with our reef-themed crime lab:

🎨 Robot Portrait (Pictionary): Sketched and identified suspects on the fly.
🕵️‍♀️ Interrogation Room (“What am I?”): Cracked the case by narrowing down species traits.
🔍 Recognize the Suspect: Examined numbered photo lineups and used clever clues to track down the correct targets!

PADI AWARE - DAY 4 Coral Predators 🪸 🦹‍♂️

Today’s focus centers on the delicate balance of the reef by taking a closer look at natural coral predators, examining both their positive and negative roles in the marine ecosystem.

While these species play a natural role in maintaining reef biodiversity in small numbers by feeding on fast-growing corals, environmental stressors can trigger population surges that threaten fragile reef ecosystems. Participants explore how conservation initiatives—such as the monitoring and management efforts led by Black Turtle Conservation—help keep these populations in check to protect Koh Tao’s marine habitats.

Today the team learned how to identify coral predators on the reef and then took their knowledge into the water for two monitoring dives.
