Did you know it takes 5 years for a Bald Eagle to earn its “crown”?

I’m thrilled to partner with the Blackwater Conservation Association to show off the incredible residents of this refuge. One of the most fascinating things about photographing eagles here is seeing them at every stage of life.

From the dark, mottled feathers of a first-year juvenile to the iconic white-headed adult, their transformation is a testament to the success of conservation efforts in the Chesapeake Bay.

On Saturday, October 18, the winners of Blackwater Conservation Association’s Brew for the Bay experience joined us at Third Hill Brewing Co. to help craft Blackwater, a rich, full-bodied stout inspired by the beauty and depth of Maryland’s wetlands.

We’re excited to announce that we’ll be hosting a launch party on Saturday, November 29, from 7 PM – 10 PM at Third Hill Brewing Co. (8216 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910) to celebrate the debut of Blackwater.

Blackwater will be available for purchase on tap and in 16 oz. four-packs beginning that evening and will remain available until supplies run out.

A huge thank-you to Jason and Matt for sharing their time and expertise, and to Third Hill Brewing Co. for their continued generosity in supporting our mission to conserve and restore the health of the Chesapeake Bay.
