‘Nothing Left To Lose’ was supposed to be our comeback single. But this doesn’t feel like the right time to put the spotlights on us. Instead, we chose to focus the attention that a new single would generate on the issue that is currently closest to our hearts, which is the genocide in Gaza and the complicity that Belgium has in it.

Samen met de andere betogers die gearresteerd waren ben ik deze nacht rond 1u30 vrijgelaten.

Weer een triestig optreden van de politie.
De disproportionele aggressie die werd ingezet om een vredevol protest uiteen te drijven is ronduit hallucinant.

Met het creëren van deze gewelddadige atmosfeer probeert het Antwerpse stadsbestuur ons protest te criminaliseren en af te zetten als ‘het verstoren van de publieke orde’, terwijl het net de politie is die deze chaos en onveiligheid veroorzaakt: het willekeurig arresteren van betogers door een gemaskerde en ongeïdentificeerde knokploeg die gebruik maakt van nekklemmen, het chargeren op en duwen van een grote groep mensen tussen kleine straten en terrassen, het behandelen van bezorgde burgers als gevaarlijke criminelen.

Wij zullen ons niet zomaar laten intimideren. Zolang de vlag van een genocidaire apartheidsstaat aan ons stadhuis blijft wapperen, zolang er banden intact blijven met Israël, tot er echte betekenisvolle sancties komen zullen wij hier staan en ons laten horen. Voor ons recht op protest, voor een vrij Palestina, voor alle onderdrukte mensen wereldwijd.

Dankjulliewel voor de steun, merci voor de solidariteit tijdens het protest en aan het politiekantoor bij de vrijlating. Ik hoop jullie volgende maandag weer te zien. Samen staan we sterk! taken in Antwerp, Belgium by @blackwavedot

Willem was just arrested (together with @groen.be president @aimenhorch ) being part of the peaceful protest against the Israeli flag at the Antwerp City Hall. The city of Antwerp is detaining and locking up citizens every week for speaking up for human rights. Obviously this is not about Willem. This is about Palestine and our right to protest. We will not stop addressing this. Please spread the word and most of all, take the time to join us next week in Antwerp. Every Monday at 7pm. “Deze show dragen wij op aan Palestina. Het publiek die dezelfde boosheid voelt als wij en dat gevoel kanaliseren in muziek, die eenheid was heel mooi.”

Met hun nieuw nummer ‘Nothing Left to Lose’ bracht @blackwavedot een halve track uit als statement om mensen aan te moedigen op straat te komen en je uit te spreken. In samenwerking met @oxfam.be deelt het duo ook een open brief om te ondertekenen, die ondertussen al aan 100,000 zit. Het hoofddoel: druk uitoefenen op de Belgische en Europese beleidsmakers. #defestivalzender #PKP25 by @blackwavedot
