The concept for this book was born and developed through spending a lot of time drawing in Gurdware, so it was a sweet full circle moment to bring these advance copies back to their place of origin, the Gurdwara! ✨

Lost and Found at the Gurdwara comes out in two months in the US on the 13th October @harperkids
And soon after in the UK on the 5th November @farshorebooks

The gurdwara is preparing for the Nagar Kirtan and Darshan needs your help!!

Lost and Found at the Gurdwara is a search-and-find story that celebrates Sikh community. This book is a huge chunk of my heart and it’s coming out in autumn, published by @harpercollinsuk @harperkids @farshorebooks

Lost and Found at the Gurdwara comes out in TWO WEEKS (in the US)
I shared my advance copy with a bunch of kids in the langar hall and asked for their beautifully unfiltered and honest reviews. I was lucky to get some starred reviews too!!!

One month travelling in South Korea 🇰🇷
Returning with one full sketchbook, a stretched out heart, five korean picturebooks, +80km on my running shoes, not enough stickers and stamps, and a bursting mind which will need more processing time.

Most drawings are observational, ink & watercolour.

The judges loved Baljinder’s drawings and were impressed to see the use of full colour, whilst still managing to capture the characters and their interactions. There is a wonderful confidence in her brush and line which the judges admired. Additional details in the scenes around the characters told us more of the story - the picnic food, the items at the market stall and the baby bottles with what looks like a big cup of juice - all these things further helping transport the judges to being in that moment. The quiet cuddle and tired faced toddler a lovely end note to a wonderful body of work.

The Sleeper Train has won the V&A Illustration awards in the Illustration for Children category!!

Such a wholesome evening shared with so many wonderful people who have truly nourished me as an illustrator. This post is really an ode to some of them, because collectively they’re the reason I even got this award!! @csacbi tutors, team @walkerpicturebooks , artist friends/peers and of course my BFF husband Hari!! AND DGN, always 🙏🏽

Also @laurenchildthatsme was one of my first crushes during university, 15 years ago, when I began looking at children’s books with refreshed appreciation and intention. A full circle moment to meet her in the flesh : )

Travel sketchbook: One week in Fes, Morocco.

We spent most of our time wandering around the old Medina, drawing and connecting with people. It felt like stepping back in time — the locals were so welcoming, curious, and active in their particular crafts. All credit to Hari’s Arabic tutor who translated conversations and taught us so much! We felt our hearts grow a little more.
