“Yonder figure promises me many things. I know not the true nature of the creature, nor have I seen its face. I know only that its eloquent assurances have soothed my scattered, braying mind. It is true that I do not remember inviting it into my humble studio, but surely I must have - for it stands watch in the shadowed corner even as I write. It whispers.

It is an unfortunate truth that the flow of inspiration has dried up. The youthful, sensitive vessel of my mind was once compelled along by a veritable torrent of romantic ideations. It was all I could do, then, to grasp just one bright and shining composition long enough to see it to completion and invariable success. I was merely plucking one fish from the whole exotic school. Child’s play.

As is the cycle of the universe - indifferent by its very nature, I suppose - ruinous drought has since found me. I scrabble along the now-arid riverbed, finding only bones where once there was a harvest. I worry at refuse, only to discard it once more. Desiccation.

The figure whispers continuously. It promises the dawning of a golden age - a life studded with fortune yet free of toil; a glut of inspiration, a depthless pool of resource. Paradise.

It whispers, rapturously - ‘Come, my friend. Come out of the barrens. Do you not see those bones are dry? Picked clean. Dust, merely clinging to itself a short while longer. Carbon awaiting reassignment. You’ve toiled long enough in this ancient waste, wouldn’t you agree? Innumerable works bear your mark - what is one more signature to you now, with this at stake? With everything at stake. Sign, and taste the future that awaits you.’

The candles are guttering. My will has been all but snuffed out. I am nearly extinguished, but the pen is here at hand. Perhaps the figure speaks truth - I face the void, and my dues have been paid at immeasurable cost. Truly, what could be the price of one more signature?

It whispers…”

"I cannot recommend them enough if you're looking to paint on a really cool board that's going to protect your work for the long haul."

Take it from @blairatherholt the Artefex ACM panel is built different. Try his favorite, the 411 Oleopanel smooth finish, for the perfect texture and reliable protection against cracking and warping.

Comment "TP99" to get a trial pack and try it fir yourself

It all starts with a painting substrate you can rely on. Look no further than @artefexart aluminum panels. My favorite is their 411 Oleopanel, but Artefex offers a WIDE variety of finishes and textures. Check out the Artefex website to find your favorite, use code BLAIR10 for 10% off your purchase, and get yourself some panels you can rely on. 🎨
