This Boondocks episode is 20 years old but still very relevant! The clip parodies Donald Rumsfeld’s speech with the absurd paradoxical concept of things that you don’t know that you don’t know called “unknown unknowns”and that ignorance is why America goes to war for Is. Ra hell. Fast forward to present day, you have Marco Rubio making effectively the same convoluted contradictory arguments. Aaron Mcgurder is always on point.

1000 days of war in Sudan, hundreds of thousands killed, tens of millions displaced, horrific atrocities the majority of which were perpetrated by the RSF with the true number unknown.

Around sixteen years ago a French beatmaker who goes by the name John Sizemen Watts reached out to me online because he liked my style. I was a little hesitant at first because I had just started writing raps and wasn’t confident with my own ability and he was a random stranger but he had faith in me and showed me some of his projects and turned out to be extremely talented. Allowing me to pick from an assortment of beats using classic orchestral samples from across the globe from Peru and Japan to name a few.

This particular beat contains a sample from a spectacular performance by the late Peruvian opera singer Yma Sumac in the 1960s Latin American musical called “Las Canciones Unidas”. She was a superbly gifted soprano with tremendous vocal range and had the ability to hit and hold incredibly high frequency notes effortlessly.

The beat spoke to my soul and I visualised urban jungle warfare as the scene for what I was going to write in my the vision for the song changed, the narrative was moulded into revolution and the reality became war. Both of which would become songs that I would feature on my projects the first was rushed and did not do justice so I repurposed it and changed the lyrics. This time around I felt more in tune with the BPM in the latest version.

The mix was meticulously arranged by my favourite engineer Sam Dyson at Freehouse Studios who understands my vision and how I want to paint a picture with the words and music to illustrate the dark atmosphere that permeates in my country Sudan.
In contrast to other songs there was less emphasis on naming figures, specific violations, cities or militias in order to preserve the flow on a particularly fast BPM that is made up of claps as opposed to boom baps.

Clips from @ajplus in the city of Khartoum, of course the whole country is burning but the most affected regions right now are Darfur and Kordofan with areas occupied by the RSF left in ruins as ghost towns.

A sequel to the song “Destroy to Rebuild” over the same instrumental but about the war in Sudan and the aftermath of destruction whereas the original was about the revolution.

Was just supposed to be an album cut for “Sudan Resurrected” but I ended up having to make a single.
I approached the beat differently this time around.

This is my ALBUM it was supposed to be released this year but it has been DELAYED until the NEW YEAR!

Every song has already been recorded its just the finishing touches and rollout that need to be done and planned.

The album artwork was a picture I had taken when I visited Meroe and photographed the Nubian hieroglyphics.

And this is how the album evolved from Make Sudan Great Again which ended up just being a 5 track EP using monochrome colours to signify that it was the beginning. The album which is fully in colour was going to have the same name as the EP, because it shared the first 5 songs and was effectively a longer version of the EP with many more songs as the situation in Sudan began to escalate.

I renamed the ALBUM Sudan Resurrected following the war and to remove any MAGA connotations.

Expect all of my tracks to date about Sudan to be included on this album including some remixes and alternate versions. Physical copies are also going to be distributed inshallah so keep your eyes peeled.
