What a blessing it is to run—to move your body for hours through mud and sketchy terrain.This was my first ultra(50k)—31 miles of new territory—an unforgettable race. I did not run this race myself, I ran with friends, a supportive group who came to see one ultimate goal, step across that finish line or die trying. There were moments when I struggled. The pain set in, I had to stop, regroup, and keep moving. But my mind was firm on one thing, to finish. I finished 2nd place in my first ultra and I’m incredibly proud, but I want to shine a light on the resilient community of people who made this possible. To my crew, my friends, the volunteers, and every runner who shared a word of encouragement along the way—thank you. HYROX Dallas is 6 months out.Looking back at my first HYROX in Houston, I know my strengths, I know my weaknesses, and I know what needs to be done.I need to take the thing I hate most—the thing that breaks me down the hardest—and learn to love it.
