Nickelback is coming. An Australian tour for October 2027 was announced overnight, with @nickelback bringing recently collab (and phenomenally underrated artist) @donbroco with them.

I am so excited for this one. It's just so far away 😭😭.

Reposting my attempt at a Good Things 2027 lineup.

Since the announcement today that Beck will be joining The Strokes out here in Australia in February, I've removed him and added Ice Nine Kills to the lineup. Yes, I know they were here just two weeks ago, but both Bilmuri and recently South Arcade made relatively quick returns. Plus Ice Nine Kills just rocks.

Yes, it's AI (I'm not this creative). It's not perfect. I tried to balance it to include genres Good Things likes (see Pop punk) and emerging artists I've never heard of but a good 25 bands are all me.

Also @goodthingsfestival l if you're viewing, you have my permission to steal as many bands as possible here for the actual 2027 lineup. I want them.

Some delayed footage from the Electric Callboy/Ice Nine Kills/coldrain gig. Such an amazing gig and I've been spamming Electric Callboy and especially Ice Nine Kills since.

Thoughts on Electric Callboy / Ice Nine Kills / Coldrain at Afterpay Arena (Sydney) - Thursday 10 September

Did it hit or was it a miss?

Clips coming in the next day.

Heading to Electric Callboy. Keen as.

Afterpay Arena (formerly Qudos) is a nightmare to get to. That aside should be a fun gig.

Let's go.

So I did a thing.

Yep, it's AI (I'm not this creative) but here is my Good Things 2027 lineup. It's not perfect. I tried to balance it to include genres Good Things likes (see Pop punk) and emerging artists I've never heard of but a good 25 bands are all me.

I think I've come up with a ripper Good Things 2027. Let me know what you think.

Main rule, if they're not local and they've toured recently they're out.

Also @goodthingsfestival l if you're viewing, you have my permission to steal as many bands as possible here. I want them.

President Australian 2027 Campaign announced today.

One of the acts I had earmarked for Good Things 2027 has announced a tour of Australia in February. Touring with Hands Like Houses.

This is going to be a ripper show.

Good Things 2026 🤘

Limp Bizkit, Spiritbox, Polaris, The Home Team, Headwreck, Speed, The Devil Wears Prada and more.

Yeah... December is looking pretty damn good.

Who are you heading straight to the stage for?

Been getting back into video games lately. I go in stages waves where I'll be playing or not playing but it's a habit I'm not looking to drop (despite the news that Sony is discontinuing disc sales in 2028... bye Sony).

After a long stint in Hogwarts Legacy, I'm putting aside platinuming that game for something new and not so open world, James Bond: First Light. Only early days but the game is so fun. Fighting is a little clunky (a combo of me and the game) but otherwise is just a blast to play. Also has a Bond opening number performed by Lana Del Rey.

With a bunch of new games on the horizon, I'm trying to make playing more of a priority.

One of my other passions is film (you can follow my other account @blake_explores_hype for all things films and movies) so getting out to Sydney Film Festival to watch not one, not two but three films was a real treat, even if they weren't all bangers.

So thankful for all the options @sydfilmfest has provided this and in previous years.

Another really great gig. Up there for the best of the year so far. Headwreck in their first headline tour, with special guest Irken Armada and Rivilin. It was a chance to see all 3 bands for the first time. Headwreck and Irken Armada had been extremely high on my list to see, maybe even the top two, so getting to see both alone made the extremely cheap ticket price worth it. And both more than delivered.

Great small venue, easy to access and across the road from Spice Alley - where there's fantastic variety of Asian food (always a good start to a gig). Irken Armada absolutely exceeded expectations. They may very well be my fav performance of the year. I've been following these guys for a few years now and their new tracks are fantastic (seriously go give them a listen). I got to speak with their vocalist afterwards and he's a great guy (also a Blake, so you know he's a good dude). I'm really happy to see these guys succeed and I'm going to make it my mission to check them out live again, hopefully this year.

But while Irken may be my favourite performance, the headliner Headwreck is pushing right up there for consideration. These guys were so good. I haven't seen a crowd having so much fun like I did last night for some time. Crowd surfing, people on shoulders, and a lot of singing of the lyrics.

Headwreck (and Irken Armada for that matter) are going to be massive. They are bands that show off why Australia has and has had the best scene for decades now. A phenomenal gig and I hope that anyone with an interest in this music sees (or at least listens and supports) these bands. They deserve it and we're spoiled.
