LIFE IS BETTER IN COMMUNITY.

Life was never meant to be done in isolation yet men are more isolated than ever. It’s easy to bury ourselves in work and productivity while never investing in our own growth as men, leaders, husbands, and fathers.

I’ll be honest: getting up this early is hard for me. Every week there’s a version of me that would rather stay in bed. But every week it’s worth it because of who’s waiting on the other side of that alarm.

Thursday mornings we open the Word, pray, and talk honestly through what life is actually handing us. Friday mornings we’re back on the court for pickleball.

Here’s what I’ve learned: the right men around you don’t just keep you company they build you up. They call you higher. They make you do better, be better, and go further than you ever could alone.

The King Has Arrived — Happy Palm Sunday

What will you do with Jesus? He is someone that every person must make a decision on who He is to you.

They laid down their cloaks—
their status, identity, and comfort—
at the feet of the King.

“The Lord needs it.” (Luke 19)

He’s worthy of:
• your resources
• your identity
• your future

Not for your glory but for His.

And make no mistake!
He will receive the worship He’s due.

You just choose if you’re part of it.

Had a great camp out up on the Salmon River Trail (742) Friday-Saturday. We even brought Pendleton! It was his first overnight camp out.

🌲📡 Building a Local Off-Grid Communication Network (Sandy → Boring → Estacada → Welches)

Hey everyone 👋
I’m starting a community project here in Sandy to build a simple, off-grid communication network that anyone can use — especially during power outages, wildfires, or when cell service drops.

It’s based on a small, affordable device called a Meshtastic node.
Think of it like a smart walkie-talkie network that links homes and neighborhoods together — no cell towers, internet, or monthly bills.

💡 Our goals:
• Start with reliable local coverage across Sandy
• Expand outward toward Boring, Estacada, and Welches
• Keep it community-driven, private, and affordable (most nodes cost under $100)
• Help neighbors stay connected when it matters most

This is open to everyone — not just tech folks. If you can plug in a phone charger, you can set up a node. 😉

McNeil Point – Sept 2023

I finally got around to editing these. They’ve been sitting in the vault for a while—photos from a hike that ended up being more memorable for what went wrong than what went right.

Salina and I set out after work, thinking we’d meet friends up on the trail. No signal. No streams. No friends. Just uphill climb, dry air, and a relentless swarm of hornets and horseflies waiting at the top.

We ran out of water. We ate a barebones spaghetti under the fading sun—just tomatoes, beef, pasta, and exhaustion. And it was one of the best meals I can remember.

After everything, we made the call to head back instead of camping. The hike down was long and dark, guided only by headlamps and grit. But somewhere between the silence, the filtered creek water, and the struggle—we grew closer.

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.”

Not every mountain moment is postcard-worthy. But sometimes the pain is the point. Sometimes that’s where the real work of reconnecting happens.

Grateful for the beauty, the fight, and the woman beside me.
