Thanks @djjohndigweed for including my remix of Aaliyah’s “One In A Million” on Compiled and Mixed 059. It’s a track that I used to hear on the school bus and it would get stuck in my head all day. Finally got around to remixing it and as always im totally floored by the support. by @blakejarrell

So my wife and I were driving around Orlando today, listening to the new @djsashaofficial and @djjohndigweed Northern Exposure Redux (which sounds amazing btw). I decided to stop by and pay homage to Jimmy Van M’s old house where he would bring Sasha and John Digweed after playing Firestone back in the 90s. The after parties were legendary and you can read about them in the liner notes of Jimmy Van Ms Bedrock mixed and compiled. Sean Cusick wrote a great tale of trampolines in the living room, Siamese cats everywhere, and general rave hijinks that transpired. It was a who’s-who of Florida Progressive House artists like Chris Fortier, Sean Cusick, Tim Skinner, Seth Vogt, Noel Sanger, Justin Scott Dixon, and many others I’m sure I’m forgetting. It was also a nexus of these artists influencing each others musical tastes, and I’m sure many Florida artists like Rabbit In The Moon and Pure (Justin Scott Dixon) ended up having their tracks on these Northern Exposure mixes because of the events and sets that transpired in this house. I’ve only lived in Orlando for 5 years now, but back then a younger version of myself would read about these parties from my home in New Orleans. Now I only live a few miles away from it and had to finally make my pilgrimage to the Mecca of Prog House in the USA.

While researching this house, alot of old raver brains wires got crossed and there was plenty of confusion about which house it really was. That was until I received a phone call from Beaumont Stanford (an amazing progressive house producer who needs to make alot more records) who lived on the same street for years, four houses away, never knowing at first that he lived on the same street as JVM. One day Tim Skinner came over to his house and said “Man I had alot of great memories at that house down the street!” and the cat was out of the bag!

If you ever ended up at this house please drop your stories in the comments but be respectful of people’s privacy. This is no longer Jimmys house and I don’t want to dox the people currently living there. We don’t need prog ravers showing up holding candlelight vigils in the front yard! 😂 by @blakejarrell
