My album Big Roller is out 🤍

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

“Big Roller” is out everywhere - here are a few words about my new album:

My wife and I moved back to Maryland in 2022 to learn how to be new parents in the “west wing” of my grandparents house - a garage renovation where my parents raised me and my siblings until they bought their home down the street. When I was little I would perform “concerts” for family members in the unfinished storage space before walking up the street for drum lessons. For context, the phrase “Big Roller” is a Ruby family inside joke that’s not really necessary to share - it’s a seed that just grew and grew for some reason. I made most of the tracks in my parents’ basement in Westminster shortly before moving back to Nashville last summer. Dad helped convert the space into a home studio and Pap Pap helped me build all the acoustic panels. @carteruby helped produce and record a few songs (he mostly just yelled at me to stop overthinking everything while throwing microphones in peculiar spots). I had to take frequent breaks from recording because my youngest sister would be roller skating upstairs in the kitchen or my mom would be singing Raffi tunes to entertain my daughter.

Making this record with and around family was such a huge blessing.

Big shoutout to @spencer_rabin and @xobrigetta for collaborating on two of my favorite tracks on the album, y’all are both incredible writers and it was an honor to create these songs with you. Also big thank you to @grantnygaard and @awal for taking a chance on me and this album.

There are still more songs to share, but for now I hope you enjoy “Big Roller” as much as I do ❤️ peace by @blakervby

This is one of those "can't miss shows" you hear about. Bay, one of the best singers you'll ever hear, Blake, one of the best songwriters you'll ever hear and me holding on for dear life 😂 by @blakervby

i wrote the gardener while i was thinking about my daughter growing up. seeing someone so small and vulnerable grow into their own person is a beautiful and terrifying experience as a parent. this song has some of my favorite dynamic moments and singing it always makes me emotional.

thank you to @croozermacintosh @chris_donlin @xobrigetta for writing it with me ❤️ by @blakervby
