Hello again friends. One year ago, I listened to my soul’s calling and began a journey of healing my trauma through psychedelics. As I reflect on the life-giving that has occurred, I am in such deep gratitude. Things that I was in denial about or thought were completely impossible have happened. Miracles have occurred. I no longer drink. I no longer smoke. I am healing from my eating disorder, which I can now speak about openly without shame. I am in therapy with my mother, and the authenticity of our relationship has never been stronger.

I realized some ideas about personal travel were drowning in my fear of not being able to control things, and I’ve let go, made the trips, and created some lasting memories. I made amends with my former husband and lovingly connected with my former mother-in-law. Friendships that had moved to a side burner have come back to the front with incredible love and depth. Friendships that were no longer in alignment have gone dormant. I have never been closer with my sister and can see the perfect timing of our parallel healing.

I have stepped out of my comfort zone and leaned into my writing. Not only nonfiction, but I did what I thought I was literally incapable of: I wrote part of my story in screenplay form for a short film that serves as a teaching modality of my healing. There’s something profound about seeing yourself represented on screen—feeling seen and understood.

And being a mom and a wife are the most rewarding parts of my life. My son shows me unconditional love, laughter, and light every single day. My husband supports my every step, and by doing so, he frees me from any residual shame. Talk about a vibrational match. And it’s my true self that continues to rise up from within. I give myself grace when I mess up; I am human. I’ve realized that I was actually never broken. With my open heart, I’ve always been becoming and will continue on my journey. After the week I’ve had…and many other survivors have had…being at an all women’s dance party was restorative to my heart to say the least. I’ve lived many lives since 1981. I have been reminded of a lot of them lately, and remain humbled by where I finally landed and continue to deepen my roots. My boys. My family. My friends.
