Flashback Fridays with BCD!

Today, I celebrate the anniversary of receiving the Distinguished Pioneer of Kosen-rufu Award on SGI World Peace Day.

For me, this honor isn’t simply an award—it’s a reminder of a vow: to live courageously, create value, and use my life to inspire hope, dignity, and peace.

Kosen-rufu is about transforming our own lives so profoundly that we become a source of transformation for others.

So today, I celebrate the journey, the people, the victories—and most importantly, the mission.

Throwback Thursdays with BCD! FROM RUNWAY TO RED CARPET.

There is something extraordinary about watching a collection @veejayfloresca move beyond the runway and become part of someone’s story.

One of my clients fell in love with this look I wore—and made it her own.

Now, this piece will make its next appearance at the @callenlorde Health Awards on November 5, 2026.

Fashion is more than what we wear.

@ourblackgaydiaspora host Erick is joined by Blane Charles, founder and president of @blanecharlesdesign (BCD), a one-stop shop offering interior design, wardrobe styling, estate planning, and organizing services tailored to each client’s unique lifestyle needs. But Blane’s impact extends far beyond design.

A pioneering figure in Black queer history and HIV/AIDS activism, Blane co-founded ACT UP Montréal with activist Michael Hendricks in 1989 after attending the International AIDS Conference. Their fearless advocacy helped shape LGBTQ+ history in Montréal and beyond. Blane reflects on their journey in style, interior design, and queer activism, and the legacy they continue to build.
