The real bit: For the last 18 months, since shortly after we first launched the earliest version of @starchild.app, we’ve been working on building the bigger vision for the app. This has been a world more complex and challenging to build, in part because the features themselves are simply more technically complicated (an understatement lol) and because they require infinitely more little decisions about what information users want, how they want to receive it, how it should be served and explained and contextualized. And then there was the question of how to make it all work — it’s a massive amount of content, so how to make it feel delightful to get through and intuitive to digest. (The question of how to make it look so delicious you wanted to live in it…that wasn’t really a question; @islabell handled that as effortlessly as she always does.)

You get the picture. We’ve had several releases and new features since we started, but this is by far the biggest and hardest-won. I’m so proud of this, and it was an educational, patience-testing, endurance-building experience, and I’m incredibly proud of where it landed. There’s still so much more we’re going to do with this silly little app, but for now, where it’s at, feels like a serious accomplishment.

So if you have kids, or nieces and nephews, or downstairs neighbors you babysit, or you want to put yourself and your grown siblings and parents in there; if you’re thinking about kids one day and want to think about what you would be like in that role or what your partner would be like; if you want to add yourself as a child and understand better what that kid version of you needs, you can do all of that here, and I hope you will, and I hope you’ll tell me what you like, what you don’t like, what’s confusing, what’s cute, and what else you’d like to see.

This continues to be the most fun creative project of my life, and this is the point — almost 3 years since I first had the idea — where it feels like we’re really beginning. It’s a far more full and complete expression of the concept now. I hope you like it! I like it! by @blanketboat

it’s arrow’s 13th birthday so here are some photos of seagulls he recently shot on film 💕 by @blanketboat

13 years of an absolute miracle of a person. how do i keep liking him more with every passing day, it’s insane.

this is just a random video i took last night of him goosing around on his first purchase from his first summer job, but it’s a perfect slice of what he’s like these days: just radiant and in his zone. he loves to recreate songs we like and i sit there clapping and beaming and barking like a seal every single time. i hope i get to do this with him for a thousand lifetimes by @blanketboat

someone tell @aphextwin.afx his biggest 7th grade fan did great at his recital today 🥹 by @blanketboat
