Song of the Day
For Reverend Green by Animal Collective
released on September 11, 2007 by Domino Recordings
genre: experimental pop, indie, electronic pop, experimental jam
score: 9.4/10
Animal Collective is one of the most polished and beautifully grounded bands in tune with their chemistry, presence and sound. An amazing, completely unique band with 30 boxes they fit in but none of which they belong in; they have their own box, and they like it. by @blaserpage

Phish
Live at McNichols Sports Arena, on November 17th, 1997
key: * indicates favorite, “ indicates favorite(s)of set, <> indicates set break, > indicates jam in
set score (9.5/10)
set:
Tweezer, Reba*”, Train Song, Ghost > Fire <> Down With Disease > Olivia’s Pool > Johnny B. Goode > Jesus Just Left Chicago, When the Circus Comes, You Enjoy Myself*
encore: Character Zero
Night 2 in Denver at the former Nuggs’ stadium under the Phish Destroys America tour. this set has a much cleaner sound and I was not left in cringe and more in tow with starting to learn just what Phish is. I love it all. Ghost has an amazing jam, while YEM closing (personal favorite makes room for a really amazing Character Zero encore. Reba is clean, and Trey sounds really good in this show in terms of tone, sound and really vocals. Definitely goes down smooth in this show. i’m a general fiend for anything “Fire” of course originally done by the late great Jimi Hendrix. My first venture deeper into Phishland. left marked and happy. Smiling like a Beanie baby coaxed through coats of hashish smoke. by @blaserpage

Slint
A House in Louisville, Kentucky
April 27, 1987
Recording Quality: C-
Listenability: A-
This is a live set without vocals; not including banter and stage talk
Britt Walford is on Drums.
Brian McMahan is playing Guitar.
David Pajo is also playing Guitar.
Ethan Buckler is on bass.
This is the first Slint recording, and most likely one of only so many without vocals. Buckler is on bass here and he is shuffling and greatly as possible while showing off his playing ability and also ability to shuffle and jam with the earlier versions of these Tweez songs; variating chords through thick riff processes and ending with twang on some of these (Charlotte, Nan Ding) Buckler really shows his prowess with the bridging fun twangles on Charlotte and getting a little dirty with it but hitting hard & staying clean. Buckler really is a driving force of the show with Britt; foreshadowing maybe the bigger role Buckler had before leaving. Ron is cut in, Darlene has no vocals [1] and Charlotte has a typical but clean start leading to a Walford intro and as previously stated giving the keys to a Buckler playground for the rest of the set. Nan Ding keeps standard with Buckler lighting the Walford torch that makes a rhythm out of Nan Ding. The whine of tuning abruptly cuts into a thorough rendition of Kent led by Buckler and with McMahan closely in tow to go hunky; keeping tone but being rather mathy. Buckler draws in between the lines by the end while Pajo takes McMahan’s previous grit and combines it to lead them both into an amazing Kent outro while being loud, fun and still dauntingly reverberous. Pat maintains its math strongly keeping in lug with a lot of the previous Tweez songs but remaining jammily superior in riff variation and messing around. This is a much funner, spastic version of Pat that hits good with great tone to start and jams into Squirrel Bait ethos, spirit & home; hitting the hardcore stride into Squirrel Bait’s Hammering So Hard.
[1] Darlene is missing its’ story & vocals.
[2] The tape runs out before Hammering so Hard.
Ron(4.3)[1], Darlene(5), Charlotte (8.8), Nan Ding (6.4), Kent (8.8), Pat (8.6)> Hammering So Hard (unavailable)[2]
